about to go in for annual on my 1968 M20 G.  Any thoughts or experiences with the steel cage inspection service bulletin. It has been done but not regular and I’ve had the plane 7 years now.  Any other tips from the Mooney world would be appreciated. She’s running well with about 800 on the engine and 2900 TT Airframe. All fly safely and have a great day.

It certainly cannot hurt to do inspection.

If your Mooney has been kept in hangar and has not been exposed to outside moisture, you’re probably going to be just fine.

Good to have that sign-off in your logbook for knowledgeable potential buyers. Its a bit of a pain as I recall but it will help you sleep at night as well.

You might try this-

Remove the interior panels to get visual access to the windows  Close the doors and take a garden hose and let water run down the outsides of the windows all the while looking for leaks to appear inside around the windows. If you see any leaks the widow(s) need resealing and you should see rust under the particular window. If no leaks are noted you should not see any real rust

Do the same with both doors.

There may be some very slight rust "haze" on a few places but a little cleaning and painting will clear that up. 'Be aware that the original glue they used to glue in the headliner and other interior pieces sometimes got slopped onto the tubing and it takes on a coloration that might be confused with rust so look carefully.
