After many years lurking here and learning I am finally about to close on a 79 M20J. I’m looking for a CFI to ferry the airplane from KCPS to KHFD with me to get familiarized with the airplane and burn off the insurance dual requirement. I am looking to close and get the airplane home in the next two weeks if I can find someone to take the trip with me.

It’s been great reading and learning on here, and I look forward to plenty more questions as I learn how to be an owner now.

Welcome aboard! Check with instructors on this page from nearby states and see if they are willing to help ferry: https://themooneyflyer.com/cfi.html . Good luck!

Edit: I read carefully later, will save the Congrats when you purchase it. For now, we will stick with the good luck :)

Welcome out in the open, Matt.

Message for Rob @takair... (CFI request for CT... know any?)

Best regards,

-a-

I’m a CFI and know some more. Might be interested. Would be a matter of COVID logistics, flight logistics and insurance logistics. Matt can PM me and we can talk. I can also put him in touch with one or two others.

Hi Matt,

Nice plane.  I was training out of 4B9 (Simsbury) when COVID hit. Too bad that Flying Monkey is no longer at your field.  I'm in Middlefield so once I get a plane I'm trying to find a spot for it.  KMMK doesn't have hanger space. KHFD is nice but pricey.  I like Goodspeed too, but no fuel so every trip will have to start or end at KKMK.  I would love to see a Mooney in person if you are willing.  The only planes I've been in have been a coupe of 172's and a Cherokee.

Welcome.  I'm at HFD now.  Assuming it runs, the MAPA Safety course is going to be right next door at Springfield this year.  Its a good course and worth attending - I plan to.

I saw that, it sounds like a no brainer being that close, COVID notwithstanding.

Thanks to all for the leads, I’ve hooked up with an instructor and am working the details to pick up the plane at the end of next week.
