jetdriven Posted November 18, 2011 Report Posted November 18, 2011 If the prop only required minor dressing it's not classified as a prop strike. Says so right there in the service bulletins. Further, if you are worried the crank was over stressed which is made of steel and strong enough to lever a 737 off the ground perhaps you should have the prop overhauled as well with blades replaced, as they are aluminum. Seth Posted November 18, 2011 Report Posted November 18, 2011 Quote: AustinPynes LOL It was until I hit a hole in the FBO ramp area and had a prop strike! Now the engine is torn down and being inspected. and the prop I am told the tips are just a little scraped and well within specs. Will be dressed and returned to service. But yea a load was off my shoulders with the leak but now the cases are apart again. At least this time if it leaks I am near the shop who will be assembling them. Quote
TonyPynes Posted November 18, 2011 Author Report Posted November 18, 2011 They joys of new airplane ownership. I bet the insurance company has now taken the gold star off my name. Quote
TonyPynes Posted April 14, 2012 Author Report Posted April 14, 2012 Since I last shared my pothole experience I have been on an interesting journey. Had the engine torn down and inspected as required for pothole incursion. Had to replace the Edo Aire governor and the mags and along the way lifters. So my less than 40 hour overhauled engine was taken apart again and once again inspected and reassembled. I had Triad do the work and all went well. Had a small oil leak that they found and fixed. Good people. While she sat and had engine work done I had the right wing stripped and sealed by AOG so fuel weep is gone. Inboard sending units also revealed. I love the smell of old airplanes without the 100LL cologne. In preparation for IR training had static/pitot/ transponder tested/ certified. Transponder stick and ball antenna was broken at some point so replaced that along with coax. Coax was original even though a new 327 was installed by previous owner. Have been able to do some flying locally including to Outer Banks last weekend. Just had the tail AD done...all is well. In two weeks I will fly to Peoria, IL for father in laws birthday and if weather cooperates that will be a blast. He has asked for his 70th to have me take him up. He is a saint and I can't wait. Next month she goes in for annual where I will assist with Lou Pugliese in Ashboro. The joys of plane ownership. Quote
