Vlakvark Posted February 28, 2020 Report Posted February 28, 2020 What route will you fly from South-Africa to Canada with fuel stops in a single engine? St.Maartin was not enough. LOL (can’t get the smileys to work) Quote
ArtVandelay Posted February 29, 2020 Report Posted February 29, 2020 You should post your expected range. Quote
Guest Posted February 29, 2020 Report Posted February 29, 2020 Here’s a story of a flight from the US to Botswana in a Cessna 150. https://cessna150152club.org/Transatlantic-Cessna-150 Clarence Quote
Oldguy Posted February 29, 2020 Report Posted February 29, 2020 Wasn't there a German couple who flew their 231 from Brazil across the Atlantic last year? I believe they have made several crossings and have spent a lot of time flying up and down the Americas. I know someone has a better memory than I do. Maybe it was @flumag? Quote

Ibra Posted February 29, 2020 Report Posted February 29, 2020 (edited) Via north pole or south pole? Via North Pole all down to Canaries/Dakar should be handling and permit free with load of avgas around, it gets complicated after but if you can make Gabon/Congo(PointeNoire) then Botswana/SouthAfrica you are done Via south pole: you can do via USA, Mexico, Chile, SA but I have no clue about those logistics, I think @terbang may know more about Latin America, also North Pole, Africa or anything for that matter Edited February 29, 2020 by Ibra 1 Quote
thinwing Posted February 29, 2020 Report Posted February 29, 2020 How’s the available avgas at airports along the African coast? Quote
tigers2007 Posted February 29, 2020 Report Posted February 29, 2020 This is totally doable. I inspected a guy who flew a Piper Saratoga from Oz to California the long way. Wow did he have some stories to tell. I can’t even imagine how fun a trip to Africa would be. If probably brush up on your French skills. It would be one hell of a way to build time. 1 Quote
gsxrpilot Posted February 29, 2020 Report Posted February 29, 2020 Brian Lloyd flew a 231 around the world following Emilia Earhart's route, just a couple of summers ago. His Atlantic crossing was Natal Brazil to Dakar Senegal. 3 Quote
cliffy Posted March 3, 2020 Report Posted March 3, 2020 Look up "Honey Mooney" https://honeymooney.com/ He's gone around all different ways in an E model He stopped by here a few years ago after crossing from Africa to Brazil IIRC 1 Quote
