Does anyone know of a lightweight cabin cover out there for an Ovation 3? I have a Bruces Cover that is just great for over night trips but I was looking for somthing that would be easy to put on for those long lunches......

Thanks

Bruce's makes a shorter, lightweight cover as well that may be just the ticket. I inherited one of them when I bought my J, but since I was parked outside I splurged for the longer, heavier cover to use regularly. I use the lighter one when I travel to save a few pounds.

The Bruce light weight cover is more of a "dust cover", and I've been told it is not waterproof.  On the other hand, it is really light, and packs into a tiny area.  I have a regular weight Bruce cover, but I am tempted to buy the light weight one for trips into dry areas. It is quite strechy as I recall, and only comes in grey/silver.

Have you considered some Kennon sun shields that rest inside the windows instead?  They are just the ticket for afternoon stops IMO since they are quick to deploy and remove.  (I haven't purchased a set yet, but keep thinking about it.)  I have a Bruce's cover for overnight parking on trips too.

BTW, the "lightweight" cover from Bruce's to which I was referring may not be the same thing as what Bennett meant.  Mine is a full-weight canvas that is definitely waterproof, it just has less material and doesn't cover the wing roots or stretch back to cover the rear antenna. So in this regard is it much lighter but still provides plenty of protection.

Kennon Covers used to have a lightweight version but stop producing it about 5 years ago. I had one for my Trinidad and it was exactly what I was looking for...... Maybe the inside window shade is the best option but I just hate pushing them up against the inside of the windows.......

Another thing to consider about window shades, especially the reflective ones, is that they can intensify heat right back onto the plexiglass and the sourrunding environment. I've always wondered what that does to the windows and the glue holding them in.

I contacted Bruce Covers about the lightweight cover I saw at Oshkosh and AOPA. Their reply is below:

Hello Bennett,

The price would be $350. The N number can be added for an additional $30.

Please note that this material was designed to be used for a hangar dust cover or as an occasional fair weather cover, and will last less than a year outside.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Best Regards,
