The music group was “Captain and Tennille” actually.  Besides content, I also read for spelling.

If all you have is tiresome spelling smack then this will be a short conversation.    It was going to be a progression.   ending in craptonandsenile   Now you have ruined it.

Oh, there is so much, much more...

I’m so sorry you’re bored. Maybe you can go play with the kids who share enjoyment of making fun of people’s names.

“Senile” doesn’t rhyme with “Tennille.”

But l will bite - you could have said, “Oveur, you’re a bad egg.”  Or how about “Oveur, you should be OUT!”  Maybe “Oveur, easy!”

Perhaps suggest my hat is too tight, or follow up on previous, much wittier commenters’ (correct) observations about contaminated water, too much turbulence, or bad 70s music.

You could have done any of those things, but instead, it’s name-calling and boredom. <sigh>

I finally found somebody who wants to write more than me... Welcome aboard Cap’n???  :)

By the way, there was more than one document that provided governance for the flight...

More than one meeting before and after the flight...

More than a few phone calls organizing departure and arrival...

More than a few practice flights were executed...

One of the extra documents was a colored coded Nav chart, depicting the various practice grounds that were used in the days that came before the scheduled formation flight...

Talk about serious... Caravaners actually arrived at Madison, the satellite city, days before KOSH began... yes days before... just for preparation... this time, for some, this added a three night hotel stay before camping at KOSH...

Yay!!! Three nights at a Holiday Inn... with great Mooney pricing... Plenty of organization skills used... with deep detail... similar to a Fortune 500 corporate event...

You knew immediately how well organized the Caravan is... the weather kept throwing curveballs... Caravan management had a plan B, and executed it flawlessly...

Mooney pilots must work extra hard to complete their missions... as expected... so there was a Plan B, and a Plan C... in the end the 62 Mooneys were set up in a fine Camp site... which included a test trial of taxiiing a handful of Mooneys first... before the rest could traverse the soft ground... a well negotiated Plan D...

The B2Osh guys are pretty good, Many fly in formation with Caravaners... often at their local events... unfortunately for them... they didn’t have the Fortune 500 management skills that were needed to have a successful arrival... their spaces were forfeited.... and a Mooney was parked front and center of their B tent... :)

As a first time Caravaner, I printed all the applicable docs for the flight, and stored them electronically as well...

The number of pages easily exceeds the early M20 POHs... :)

Flying is inherently dangerous... how we combat this challenge is continuous training and practice.... and discussing it openly...

Formation flying isn’t going to be for everyone... similar to flying in IMC... where one’s plane needs to be in pretty tight position following a glide slope... It is going to take knowledge, practice and currency to do so safely...

And no... we are not going to need regulation to improve on Mooney flying...

There is room for improvement in all documentation... that costs a bunch of resources...  and training on documentation writing isn’t a natural skill for everyone... neither is reading the documents...

There was significant other Mooney damage at KOSH this year, that came from a ground strike taxiing off the paved surface into a hidden hole... there is a  plan E for that as well...

Keep the conversation going... It’s Better than talking about brand C attributes...   :)

PP thoughts only, I only flew right seat, in formation, once...

Best regards,

So that is the second comment referring to instability in Iowa.  Screw yourself Captain.  With your cap on OR off...

Very true, but the "facts" I was objecting to are about Caravan operations. Even having a FAST or FFI card wouldn't give one knowledge about specific Caravan operations. And just to be sure, even a FAST or FFI carded formation pilot would still have to attend a Caravan clinic and qualify for the Caravan within the same calendar year just like every other member. It is also true that their experience and expertise would be recognized and very much appreciated and they would likely be asked to assist with new pilots flying formation for the first time.

So based on that 100% certainty that both pilots involved in incident were Caravan clinic trained within the last year.  Good to know.  Any specific criteria on airframe worth mentioning?  Any restricted types for Caravan operations?

weak rant   v e r y weak rant

Look it really should not be that difficult you are going toe to claw with a large mythical furry creature.  Other than avoiding public eye we don't really have too many startling qualities

maybe it is time for a remedial rant class for you

put down the keyboard and slowly back away before you hurt yourself

Actually, someone else mentioned Iowa to me. I don’t have anything say about Iowa one way or the other. Candidly it all looks the same from the flight levels, although back in my charter days we used to know all the great places to get a steak on a fuel stop in flyover country.

As far as your comment, I’m not sure how that would work, although back in sixth grade...well, never mind.

And again, I prefer to keep my hat on.

It occurs to me, given your tone...years ago I had an FO who seemed to have some anger issues, was a large imposing gentleman too, if l recall correctly.  The union suggested something called anger management...he ended up with a movie career l think (frankly he wasn’t much of a pilot, certainly not captain material).  Maybe that would help you?  Try reading for comprehension, they made me take a course and I found it worthwhile, when I do read.

I like classes!  Often they bring cookies and snacks and we get breaks every hour.

l don’t understand your furry comment, your manscaping is your own affair, not something to be discussed in a public forum.

I’m unclear on the keyboard comment. I use a hand mike.

Thank you for the warm welcome sir!  It’s refreshing to find a fellow traveler who is thoughtful, not angry, and who doesn’t want to tell me about his personal grooming, suggest l do unmentionables, chastise me for not being “senior” (though l am retired), work through some oversensitivity about Midwestern states (perhaps stemming from an inferiority complex), or try and get me to give up a keyboard.

Which is what I wanted to clarify, You write very well, l was very pleased to read your post.  But for me, well, l actually don’t like to write, never have. I use a hand mike. It’s one I had in one of my first jet jobs, a mechanic rebuilt it for me and I’ve got it connected so that what I say appears here.

Progress, it’s amazing, isn’t it? These kids today...pretty soon you’ll be able to just ask for something and it’ll appear at your door!  Imagine that!

If you were looking for a warm welcome your first posts should have not had so much angst.

So why don't you tell us a little bit about yourselves.

Captain, I for one, and I surely qualify as one of the senior rats in the MS barn, am very happy to read your missives. Don't let the grumps run you off... they have convinced more than one knowledgeable contributor here that they don't need the BS.

Wait...what?   Are you suggesting that @Yetti is a furry? That’s quite a rumor to start on an aviation board.

Congratulations Bob!!  Quite a milestone.

I had 25 years (from first lesson) quietly sneak by me last month and didn't even realize it until your post today.

Guess I can celebrate 25 years on the PPL next month.

Hope your trip with your grandson goes (or went, not sure if you're home yet) well.

Hope he stays. He is an excellent judge of character. Over the top funny. Obviously extremely knowledgeable about Mooney Aircraft and what Iowa and its inhabitants are made of. Can’ Wait to attempt to comprehend his missives. Going to be great. Let the good times roll. Going Cap shopping. New hero found to emulate.
