LFOD Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Abslutely no power to my KAP 150 during my IPC. Can't wait to see what this is going to end up costing. Of course this thing goes TU two weeks before my 1300NM to Kansas. Quote
John Pleisse Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Matt, During the IPC and before a major IMC trip is a blessing. Hopefullu you'll just have a blown breaker or contact or something. Quote
LFOD Posted April 24, 2011 Author Report Posted April 24, 2011 Didn't look at it that way... I am hopeful that since it is a total failure it may be straight forward. Quote
KSMooniac Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Matt, where are you headed to in KS? These guys have a great reputation from what I've read over the years: http://autopilotcentral.com/ Might be worth a phone call for starters to check easy stuff, but since they're down in Tulsa you might be able to swing by once you get to KS. LFOD Posted April 25, 2011 Author Report Posted April 25, 2011 Thanks. Im tracking those guys and I had a great experience with them on my other aircraft about three years ago. It's in the shop in WA today. The thought of flying all the way to KS without the AP is not fun. I've done it before and it gets exausting. Quote

LFOD Posted April 26, 2011 Author Report Posted April 26, 2011 Of course it isn't an easy power fix. Autopilot is off for repair. Any bets as to what this will cost? Quote
THASE Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 If it's the computer, about $2K plus re-installing. Each servo maybe $800 That's my guess from recent work. Quote
scottfromiowa Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I think about how much I have to "work" for the price of the S-Tec and my three hour legs become easier... with just the PC and Accu-Trak Quote

Awful_Charlie Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 My KC192 went back to BK as it wouldn't pass the self test (just kept bleeping forever after the test button was pressed). Came back to me with an invoice for GBP455 (+taxes & shipping) Better than the new battery in the 480 by Garmin, for which they hit me for GBP600 (again, + extras) Quote

Awful_Charlie Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 I was pleasantly surprised at the KC192. Disappoiinted for the GNS480.... Quote
