Just so we are clear on that. 2 Quote

Come on guys................this is one of the most popular threads. This drift isn't fair to @bonal How about a nice U.P. sunset to get this back on track? This is a view looking north west from just north of KIMT, my home airport, towards the Keweenaw Peninsula jutting out into Lake Superior. Tom 6 1 Quote
Skates97 Posted August 29, 2018 Report Posted August 29, 2018 Turning final at Kern Valley next to Lake Isabella a couple weeks ago. Also have video that I "think" I'm about done editing. It's a fun approach right along the hills on the west side of the valley. 5 Quote

aviatoreb Posted August 29, 2018 Report Posted August 29, 2018 (edited) Ok, OK, back on track..... Ok - here's a view out the window today on my way home from DC. A work trip. Nice thing is I managed to get my teaching in am and still to a contractors meeting on Monday afternoon, and I was home in time today to get a little mountain bike ride in with my dog then to work for a pretty full day. What's special about this picture is, its looking down at Ithaca (runway in sight) where Cornell is just off the runway and running around there somewhere is my middle son. And my oldest son graduated from there this spring. I guess I will need to go fly high over Duke university so I can do some remote sensing spy plane action on my oldest son's activities from high altitude as well. HRM Posted August 30, 2018 Report Posted August 30, 2018 Very well... Taken FROM A MOONEY (recently). Out the pilot's window at a couple of thousand feet. The Neches river ship channel, Southeast Texas, USA. Note the cloud 'shadow line', too cool. 4 Quote
J0nathan225 Posted August 31, 2018 Report Posted August 31, 2018 Flew up to Tune (west of Nashville) for brother's bachelor party. Great flight even with a 0500 wheels up! 6 Quote
aviatoreb Posted September 4, 2018 Report Posted September 4, 2018 Not the most efficient of Mooney’s but burns less fuel than that three hole beast!! 7 Quote
KLRDMD Posted September 5, 2018 Report Posted September 5, 2018 Weather display on the Aspen, FlightAware track and looking out the window (it was bumpy, blurry photo). I like that they all agree 4 Quote

It is the US/Mexico border in AZ. No political discussion implied, just showing you the area . . . I've seen similarly straight roads in other places - but most interesting the Erie Canal is like that - interesting because it represents some very old engineering but yet so long and straight. The Roman roads all over Europe are sometimes like that too. 1 Quote
gsxrpilot Posted September 6, 2018 Report Posted September 6, 2018 Labor Day provided some fun IMC. @"Chocks" and I added two approaches to the logbook including an RNAV right down to minimums. An all around excellent day to fly. 6 Quote

bonal Posted September 8, 2018 Author Report Posted September 8, 2018 Man August was a terrible month for our flying. After finishing July away from home the Mendocino complex fires broke out in Mendocino county quickly moving into Lake county. The TFR put our airport out of commission and delayed our scheduled annual. Finally was able to get that taken care of only to have the transponder quit while having VFR cert completed. Another couple weeks pass and am finally able to get back to flying. We took a needed trip for supplies and flew over the Ranch fire area. We have seen 40 70 even 100k acre fires before but this on at over 400 thousand acres and still burning is really beyond comprehension. Smoke was so thick approaching Willows that we couldn't see the field until under 3 miles out. I think my flying was good considering the long break. 3 Quote
bonal Posted September 8, 2018 Author Report Posted September 8, 2018 This shows where the River fire came down the hills towards Lampson field. 2 Quote

TonyK Posted September 9, 2018 Report Posted September 9, 2018 Finally made the trip over to Provincetown, MA today. I took along my favorite copilot. We brought the bikes along for ground transportation. We got to fly directly over Logan on the trip over. (That has never happened and was kind of neat) Ptown in the distance. It was a grey cool day in Ptown but we had a good time anyway. 5 Quote

Good ol' CV, the experimental Mooney. I see they added flames to the spinner. I wonder how may knots that's worth? 2 Quote
carusoam Posted September 10, 2018 Report Posted September 10, 2018 Caution! It may be a trap..? Looks like a classic ethics test... especially if it has a push to start button, no key... Ken, you passed! Somebody wanted to know how committed you are to your twin engine beauty... See any other fence sitters considering getting into a really nice Long Body Mooney around? If it were a serious trap being set... all the color screens would be on... It would be really easy to get drawn in. The fancy leather seats are sooo comfy... From Stuff I saw at KOSH... Best regards, -a- 2 Quote
