Brian Scranton Posted October 31, 2017 Report Posted October 31, 2017 Dudes...I am in NJ quite a bit. Wondering if anyone can recommend a good spot to rent a bird. AirFleet at KCDW wants 2 hours of CFI dual on 2 separate days to check out in their 172. Looking for slightly less stringent requirements, if they exist. Ideally, I'd pay one of you guys to exercise your bird! Any ideas? B Quote

jetdriven Posted November 1, 2017 Report Posted November 1, 2017 $200 an hour and they skip out on insurance and force you to buy that too seriously? 1 Quote
bradp Posted November 1, 2017 Report Posted November 1, 2017 Put up a flyer or two at the airport you're nearby in NJ. Might catch something good. Quote

jetdriven Posted November 1, 2017 Report Posted November 1, 2017 (edited) There's an F here for 165$....The 200$ is one thing but the forcing insurance on the renters is another. Every person who rents a plane has to pay 500$ for a policy , instead of the operation properly insuring their plane. If they skimp on insurance coverage what else do they skimp on? I've been there done that. Edited November 1, 2017 by jetdriven Quote
Brian Scranton Posted November 1, 2017 Author Report Posted November 1, 2017 Hmmm...doesn't sound like a great option! Quote
gsxrpilot Posted November 1, 2017 Report Posted November 1, 2017 If renting airplanes was simple, easy, or cost effective, very few of us would own. I travel the world full time for work and would often love to take a plane up for a flight but I realize that renting is just never worth the time, effort, and expense to go fly for a few hours. What I have done, is basically go up for a discovery flight. When I wanted to fly in Hawaii, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and a few other places, I'll just go in and ask for a discovery flight with an instructor. I get to do all the flying once the CFI realizes I'm a Mooney owner, rated, current, etc. It works for me... 1 Quote
