Lifting Eye

Is a lifting eye usually installed only while mounting a motor?  I don't see one under my cowl.   Which one is required for an M20c?  Spruce is out of stock.

We are looking to replace motor mounts and assembling the supplies.

It's under the dog house and it's a strap on the case center line bolt

It should be visible from the front of the aircraft correct? - and I don't see one on mine.

Not a great picture, but you can see the lifting eye just aft of the doghouse support.....

Thanks - thats what I was looking for.  99% sure I don't have a lifting eye or doghouse support.

is the dog house support good for lifting the engine?  I'm sure it would work but the lifting eyes are usually thicker metal.

I don't think it is strong enough.  The doghouse support is just an aluminum strap....I think.  Dropping an engine from the lift would be a bad thing.

On my O-360, like yours, I don't have a lifting eye and I had to fabricate my own doghouse support.
