Just got these sent to me by a buddy in the D.C. area, this mess wasn't there 4 months ago. He parks on the ramp and uses a FULL set of covers, plugs everywhere and they still found their way in. No damage, cleaned out the mess, corrosion-X'd everything as a precaution. Thought I'd share with the group what can happen in a short while.

Under the belly and in the avionics rack in the rear fuselage.  Wow!

Correct on the location(s), owner assisted annual was in Dec. or Jan. and all was clear.

Do you mind sharing which airport he keeps the airplane at in the DC area? I'm just curious as that is the area where I fly from. In the past I have owned three airplanes which were kept outside, and I never saw anything like this.  Did he not fly for a four month period?

Thanks,

Fernando

Thanks. I was based there a long time for a short period of time.  Very strange, but happy I have a hangar now.

Hangers don't slow mice down in fact your odds are probably better getting mice in a hanger as opposed to the ramp.  Especially true if you or one of your neighbors leaves any food around.

Foolishly back in  2009 I left cheese and crackers in my flight bag on the front seat of a M20M I owned, which I kept in a hangar at Stinson in San Antonio. Not only did the rodent eat the cheese and crackers but some of my front seat upholstery as well.

Thankfully an upholstery shop used the leather on the map pocket in the back to splice in a square on the seat and make it unnoticeable.

I have been at war with rats and mice for the last month or so in my hangar at Dallas Exec. I am told that the rodent problem is widespread in this area this year. They are eating my poison faster than I can buy it, and I'm trapping them daily.

The Coyotes and Owls have been keeping things in check, along with I keep all 11 hangars in our row mowed so it's harder for them to hide. The next row over isn't as well cared for so its a good place for the mice and rats to hang out.... away from hangar
