I have been looking for one of these for a while. I started a thread several years ago asking if anybody knew where I could have some made.

Glad to see some of these still floating around. I may pick one up (seller says he has multiple) though I'd rather have a darker one to match my other set. Thanks for sharing.

You could probably dye it darker.

Was talking to an older gentleman at the airport the other day. He saw me working on my Mooney in the hanger and stopped by to see the plane. Said he purchased a C new in the mid 60's and the plane came with the small screwdriver intended for a key chain. He had been carrying it in his key chain for over 50 years and wanted me to have it! I was blown away! Thanked him profusely. I've never heard of this and was wondering if any of you have this? Sorry to derail the thread but I thought it would fit nicely in the leather pouch along with a spare key.

I have that as well. It's part of the leather casing that the keys came in. This is my spare set and I keep this tucked away so it doesn't get ruined.

Amazing.  Any idea what the screwdriver could be used for?

I wonder if they had something specific in mind.

Popping out the ashtray?

To open the oil compartment on the cowling. I have a small screwdriver in the back I use instead of this key, though.

That's a slightly more responsible use

Wow! My 70 C has push-to-release tabs for the little doors on both sides of the cowl. Your 68 is screwed down?

Yes. I wonder if they started the push-to-release in 70?

65C had battery access on one side and oil access on the other.  The hardware was slotted for a screw driver and updated with some eared twist type prior to my tenure.

Best regards,
