Browncbr1 Posted March 15, 2017 Report Posted March 15, 2017 Does the GTN 650 have an integrated audio panel/intercom, etc? Or is it just simply a remote control feature that requires an actual audio panel box to also be installed?? Quote
Raptor05121 Posted March 15, 2017 Report Posted March 15, 2017 I have not used one yet, but I'm pretty sure the 650 is simply a COM/NAV radio and GPS unit. It still needs to be hooked into a audio panel to select different radio heads, etc (Garmin 340, etc) 1 Quote

GTN750 can control both. The remote units are separate boxes. 1 Quote
Vance Harral Posted March 15, 2017 Report Posted March 15, 2017 No integrated audio panel, but it does have a feature that allows you to monitor audio on the standby frequency. This is almost like having an additional listen-only COM radio. I use the feature to start monitoring tower/CTAF early when I'm still talking to approach, or to monitor radio traffic when I'm halfway between two closely-spaced airports. 1 Quote
Browncbr1 Posted March 15, 2017 Author Report Posted March 15, 2017 Thanks guys.. After playing with the ipad sim for the GTN and IFD, I feel like the GTN is just way more intuitive, but as you know, the simulator is a GTN 750, not 650, so I was trying to understand some of the differences... I understand that the GTN650 will also cross feed with my Aera510 2 Quote

bradp Posted March 15, 2017 Report Posted March 15, 2017 I'm the opposite- after playing with both simulators I found the IFD to be more intuitive for how my brain works. But in the end they're both great. Just a little different. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
DAVIDWH Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 Vance, "No integrated audio panel, but it does have a feature that allows you to monitor audio on the standby frequency" How is that done? Quote
DAVIDWH Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 No worries mate, just found the monitor function key. 1 Quote
