kevinw Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 I recently installed a GTX345 and flew at night for the first time last weekend since the install. Does anyone know if the buttons are supposed to be lighted? Mine are not and I had to use a flashlight to find the ident button (My glareshield lights are inop). I looked through the pilot handbook and can't find anything suggesting they light up. Quote
cbarry Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 Try adjusting the backlight setting by pressing the "CRSR" and the "8" and "9" (for up and down) and see if that helps. 1 Quote
cbarry Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 You may have to press the "function" key multiple times to get to "SYS" before pressing "CRSR"... 2 Quote
carusoam Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 Do you get some form of transition training with that? the world is getting more complex one step at a time. Best regards, -a- Quote

You either have a settings issue or a wiring issue. The buttons should all light at night. Quote

kevinw Posted October 9, 2016 Author Report Posted October 9, 2016 I was able to turn on the key lights by turning up the backlight in the function page. Thanks Don. On another note I had a similar problem with my 530W and 430W. It's a little more complicated to adjust but if anyone is having the same issue with the GNS series just hold the ENT button in while powering up the box. Then go to page 5 where you can make adjustments. I switched the key lights to 14V panel and turned up the brightness. Now the buttons work with my panel lights while I left the display on photocell. Much better at night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
rbridges Posted August 12, 2020 Report Posted August 12, 2020 Old thread, but the information was a huge help. Flying back from the avionics shop at night, I noticed my 430 and 345 buttons were dark. I was able to find the settings for both and get them lit up. Another thanks to Mooneyspace. 1 Quote
