Nah, I can sit in the back on the airlines. The only seat I want in a Mooney is the front left. And because I'm the owner... It's always mine.

Did an angel flight yesterday Clemson sc to De., the remarks from the person I Picked up who never flew,it that our plane it so CUTE, a college girl I was taking to her granfathers funeral, by the time we were up. I had the barf bags ready, didn't need them, she was taking pictures in a few minutes and loved the Mooney. It's so Cute.

Your new F when you get it will be just fine and really cute.

Welcome Jim C

Haha, I think damn near everything is "cute" do girls. I'm pretty sure that's my daughter's favorite word. =) On another note, I didn't realize Angel flight was used for things like that. I was thinking it was medical related? Sounds like the scope is a little broader than that.

As for the weight sounds like non issue with 2 and not full tanks. Now mine is a short body and I think I'm the only one that gets in and out this way. Pax seat full forward pilot seat full back I step in behind pax seat then left leg in foot well right leg in holding seat back and sit down. Getting out is even easier seats in same position rotate right knee on pilot seat pan left foot on floor behind pax seat stand up step out. With an F should be even easier. I find the scoot across seat method very difficult.

Your more of a Twister than "Love Shack" kinda guy.  Whatever works.  I think that would be left foot green...right foot red :)

"Look away, nothing to see here"...Nothing graceful about the in and out of Mooney's.  Getting out of a Cayman is no picnic either.  I just smile.  Worth the ride...in both.

Hey Coleman, NICE beard.  You wear it well.  Off-setting pilot and co-pilot seats does work.  I have had a right seater multiple times of you and your sons dimensions in my E.  It will work.

A couple things...

Don't forget to check the CG when you do the weight and balance.  I plugged your weights in for my plane and if you were both in the front seat, 50 gallons of fuel, and the seats about half way forward; I would be out of limits on the forward CG.  I would need a little weight in the baggage compartment to keep it legal at all seat positions.  Of course, if the right seater ran the seat back that would help.  However, it would also make it just about impossible for them to see over the panel.

Angel Flights.  I have not had them bring much medical equipment on my flights.  Usually just the passengers and a little luggage.  The biggest thing so far has been one of those walkers that has a fold down seat and hand brakes.  Wouldn't fit through the baggage door so I had to put in the front door, over the seats and have it rest on the hat rack and baggage.  There is one passenger that has been in our plane 3 or 4 times and she loves it because it is so comfortable in the back seat.  Angel Flight is mostly passengers traveling for medical appointments, but out west we also transport blood for the blood bank.  They have a blood drive someplace so they send us to pick it up and bring it to Seattle.  Anywhere from 4 to 10 boxes.  I've filled the baggage compartment and back seat before.  Doing one of those on Wednesday (FHR-BFI).  They also occasionally will do relocation for battered women.  It's a good organization and a satisfying feeling to help.  You'll like it.

When I needed to do the above, the easiest method I found to add weight in the back was using 25 lbs free weights.  Throw two or three in the back (tied down of course) and viola, additional 50 or 75 pounds to help counter the forward CG issue.

Cheers,

Brian

A J is not an F.   The J have a bunch more stuff in the radio/battery area

You probably would be more to the back in the seat with your height.

in a 75 F the way mine is configured without a bunch of fancy letronics

given this is with my seat all they way past back by 3 inches

and you and your son

with 60 out of 62 gallons of fuel,

you would be fine flying my F

Wow, super helpful, thanks so much! I'm really excited about volunteering with Angel Flight. I'm also looking at Civil Air Patrol. Looks like there are many great aviation related non-profits out there. What an opportunity to serve in an area that we're so passionate about.

Bonal,

1) I tried this yesterday...probably the best advice on entering and exiting the pilots seat.  It was almost too easy.  Thank you!

2) your video played great, my advice is dump the icrap and follow your wife's android lead. :D

I will give this a try. Any suggestion for getting one of these in the right seat?

You might try Vaseline on the door posts.

iPad here too. I'll watch it on the desktop tomorrow. Thanks!

Same for my blasted iPad. It's a shame that Apple is so controlling. So I downloaded it on my Samsung phone and watched it. Looks interesting, I may have to give it a try. Who knows, it may spread through the Summit this weekend like wildfire . . . If only I had a chance to practice first! I get home tomorrow evening, and we don't fly to Panama City until Friday morning.
