itsmekw Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 My 64 C did not have the PC system on it when it came out of the factory. When I purchased it there was an old non working ARC type auto pilot that I had removed. I have been looking at the Brittain A/P, but I also wondered if I could have one of the PC systems installed. Does anyone know what it takes to put the PC system in a plane that did not have one? It may be as much work as putting in a Brittain. Thanks
georgeb Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 The PC system is the Brittain A/P without the tracking capabilities. It simply leveles the wings, however, that in itself is a great help with xcountry flying. George
Barry Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Brittain will install a wing leveler in your plane.
mooney11x Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 Spend the extra money for S-TEC AP. Wing leveler is nice for x-country but by the time you pay for avionics shop, AP, and STC you are well on your way to a "true" AP.
eaglebkh Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 I echo mooney11x. If you're going to start from scratch, go with the S-tec. I'm actually glad my E didn't have PC, allowing me to go with the S-tec 30 with Alt Hold.

eldeano Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 I got a quote of 14 aviation maintenance units ($14,000) to install an stec 30. I really really want one!! High on the wish list, so if anybody out there has any extra disposible income or Santa flies a Mooney, it is the Holidays and I've been really good this year!!
