I think I'd like to reinstall the original style curtains in my '66E. The window frames have the holes and I have a clever seamstress friend who can make the curtains. Does anyone here have the old rods laying around? Or I can make if I get specs. (I saw a newer F with curtains but the hardware was different - tracks on the top and bottom.)

Hi Bob - When I bought my '66E (August), I took them off (and the ugly green curtains) and left the rods with the shop.  I've just checked and they chucked them.  They said you could fabricate from soft aluminum brake line tubing.  Sorry.

Regards,

Lance

Friends don't let friends put side curtains in Mooney's?

I LOL'd when I read this. Completely agree. If worried about passenger comfort, toss some sunglasses in each seat back.

Mooney Hearses.  Look like...Hearses.  "Excuse me, are there any caskets back there"?  My condolences for your loss...

I wear my sun-visors and side-curtains on my face.  They work awesome when I need/want them.  They are "gone" when I don't.

Sunglasses.  An incredible invention.

Bob, I still have the original curtains and rods installed in my Mooney (hearse).  They are actually pretty good at blocking the sun!  Imagine that.

If you need the dimensions, or pictures, PM me.

You should hear Mom fuss, all these years later, about the first new car Dad bought just before they got married. It only had one arm rest and one sun visor, both for the left seat.

and yes, my prescription sunglasses work well, but even better with visors (in my truck and in my plane).

Sunglasses do not prevent the sunny side of the plane from getting about 20F warmer than the other side.

Do curtains do that? You've got to keep the front ones open to see, right?

Hank, I have really nice LASAR visors. It's not really about light and seeing, in fact I seldom use sunglasses. (I expect that to change after cataract surgery next month based on testimonials I hear.)

"I seldom use sunglasses" "I am having cataract surgery next month"

Lesson? ;)

If you're thinking of curtains, just go ahead and dress your headliner edges with red velvet tassels like a Latino taxi cab.

Why stop at curtains and tassels when you can go full JINGLE.

Somebody's been to the Philippines! Or scrounging online photos  . . .  :D:D

Nope, Afghanistan.....Although, I did borrow this photo, it was easier than digging through all my photos for one of the trucks.  There are a lot of these in Afghanistan and Pakistan.  The owners take serious pride in having the right amount of "Flair" on their trucks/buses.

Here's the Philippines.  Jeepney's everywhere.  I was just there last month...Didn't have time for a ride in one.

I've been there several times and I have ridden in their unique combo of taxi/bus.  Enter though the back and sit along the sides. Or a large family might own a private, not for hire, version.
