Can anyone just confirm that the Garmin power plug is proprietary? I'm going through all my cockpit cigarette lighter components and converting them to use a single USB power bus off the cigarette lighter. I currently have a DC power strip under the panel but its very, very bulky as you add new cigarette lighter components. I want to add several more including Raspberry Pi ADS-B,  and need the space.

Are you feeding ADS-B from rPi to some standard app on ipad ?

Yap. To WingX. You just need a Pi with wifi and a $40 SDR and someone has written the software to make it all work. Its a $120 ADS-B in solution. You can also get a $30ish AHRS unit although I've not tried integrating the software. But the community is working on an integrated solution to serve ForeFlight but so far it also all works on WingX.

If you want all the parts to look nice people have free specs for 3D printer to put it in a pretty case. Just send the file to your local print shop and $10ish they can print you a 3D case.

I believe the x96 power plugs are proprietary.  Years ago I bought a Power & Data cable from Garmin to hard-wire my 496.  The "business" end comes with bare wires that you connect to power, ground, and a GNS-x30 connector if you wish to have data transfer downstream.  I'm sure you could get the cable (it wasn't crazy expensive) and hard-wire it into your DC box.

Ooh, nice, i'm wondering if it could be used with the MLAT data as well ( naturally relative to you in motion, without triangulation ) similar to how Zaon does with MRX
