When was the last time it wasn't? Probably when it was a 707.

I stand corrected.  See below.

Eisenhower had a piston Aero Commander he used for short trips. Where did this country go wrong that the president can't travel without AF1.

Its like he is a prisoner of the Secret Service. You could let him fly his plane and send a couple of F16s as escorts. It would still be cheaper then bringing that behemoth out.

I meant to refer to the concept that the president still can and does fly fixed wing without the 74.  I think typically in a G5.

I agree it that it would be cheaper for a president fly in his own plane, or a smaller government plane.

There is no law preventing.a president from flying in his own plane if the president wanted to.

This thread hi jack is classic.  While aviation related it exposes the shortfalls of "All Mooney ALL THE TIME"...

There are so many other budget issues that TRUMP this.  Issues that matter.  Issues that are not being discussed by main stream media.  This is just goofy to focus on this drop in a vat non-issue.

FlyBoy go start your own thread on the Presidents use of AirForceOne.  I am sure it will have thousands of comments and views...

Go on Shoo...Away with thee. :)

Typical republican response. It was an absolute travesty when the other guy did it, but it's more than totally acceptable when your man does it.

Wait until the midterm elections when Trump flies around the country campaigning for his party, another thing he called Obama out for.
