PR474 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Anyone familiar with the registering and testing requirements of 406 elt's? Quote
BigTex Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Yep... you have to register it through NOAA... Here's the link. It's pretty straight forward. http://www.sarsat.noaa.gov/beacon.html Quote
PR474 Posted January 20, 2015 Author Report Posted January 20, 2015 Thanks. Are you familiar with the testing requirements? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Rustler Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 My avionics shop tested it before I got the airplane back. Registration is on line and straight forward. Quote
Robert C. Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 Picked up my plane from the avionics shop on Saturday with a brand new AK451 installed. They told me they had ground tested it and handed me both a registration form and a manual. They already had the sticker from the box put on the registration form so I'll just fill in the remaining details and send it to NOAA SARSAT. Don't know about any additional testing requirements I'm afraid. Robert Quote
PR474 Posted January 21, 2015 Author Report Posted January 21, 2015 How about complying with FAR 91.207d? Sorry I was not more specific. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Robert C. Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 At the risk of sounding naive, I'm intending to ask my A&P to do it either at the Annual or at the 12 mo mark, as I'm assuming that he knows how to do it. Quote
PR474 Posted January 22, 2015 Author Report Posted January 22, 2015 Did some research and it seems to be a lot more complicated than a regular ELT. Check out 406Test.com Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
