  1. Just sent you an email about renting your shock disc tool. Thanks, Paul
  2. The snubbber worked. I used a .004 from McMaster-Carr. Omega had a 9 week delivery time. Like you said "Ragsf15e", it is always the last thing.... Thanks and this will be the final post.
  3. Thanks for your reply. I have read about the snubber before, but JPI's current tech support says the problem was fixed with the newer units. After a conversation with the tech support I found him lacking in personality and willingness to help. My installer had told me earlier that was their opinion as well. That being said I think I will try to find a snubber and hope that works.
  4. The problem started after the new install. Zephyr did major overhaul of the engine in September 2019. When the airplane went in for the new panel upgrade it had a JPI 830 and a Electronic International digital MP gauge with no problems.
  5. I have a 1992 M20J and did a panel update late last year that included updating from a JPI 830 to a JPI 900 engine monitor. Since the install the manifold pressure has been constantly fluctuating as much as a full point either way making it impossible to accurately set power. JPI sent a loaner unit that did the same thing while they did a software update to mine. New unit came back with same problem. Next, JPI sent a new sensor that did not resolve the problem. Went back to installer and they moved the sensor from the #1 cylinder to the back of the engine baffling with no change. Plane just came out of annual, and we replaced seals and gaskets on all 4 intake tubes with no changes. Wiring has been checked twice by installer and my mechanic. Any thoughts or suggestions?
  6. How about for MaCauley prop? Also which way do you turn the screw to increase rpm? Thanks, Paul Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. They adjusted the autopilot. Mine was also tracking well left of the magenta line and they adjusted that out as well, again thru the screw hole in the face of the autopilot. Paul Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. I just had a Pro 1000 installed and when I left the shop it would barely do half rate. I have a KAP150 and it only took the avionics shop about 10 minutes to adjust it. Works fine now. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks for your response anthonydesmet. I was quoted a vacuum RC Allen attitude indicator for backup, but we just finished the annual inspection today and now I am leaning toward adding a G5 to the installation and do away with the vacuum system. I have a backup vacuum pump system and should be able to defray some of the cost by selling it. I will be pricing the addition tomorrow and hope to have installation done in December. 10. Do you know if that includes the EA 100 autopilot adapter for the KAP 150? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks For the reply Chris. I thought the equipment prices were ok but the labor which was included was over $4k and I thought that was a little high. I have 2 more quotes being prepared. I will ask about rebate. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  13. Coming home from avionics shop Thursday my KI-258 attitude indicator decided to take a nap. It was overhauled about a year and a half ago with less than 200 hours since, so it has me thinking about upgrading the panel. I would be trading in the KI-258 core, the King HSI system and a DAC GDC-31 GPSS unit. In return, I would be getting an Aspen 1000 Pro with EA 100 autopilot adapter and a new RC Allen Horizon Gyro for backup installed for about $15k. Opinions on whether the price seems high or about right. Thanks, Paul
  14. Done. Thanks Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. I have had very good dealings with Jimmy Gaither and Southcoast on the prop on my J.
  16. I had the same problem with the RPM on my JPI 830, installed in M20J. Replacing the sensor did not work, finally a new shop replaced one of the pins in the connector and have not had a problem since. Paul
  17. I have a 1992 J and it has them. One got broken off at the last annual and it cost about $100 for one from LASAR.
  18. Thanks for the tip Lance. Computer and iPad show flights now. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Labor for GDL 88, Flightstream 210 and new encoder was a little over 2k. Paul Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. If that one is sold let me know. Just installed a gdl 88 and will be selling my Stratus 2. Paul Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. +1 for Bob Bramble (Aerolab Aviation) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Thanks for the responses. Sounds like the second antenna may not be necessary, so I think I will go with the single antenna and save the 1k, or maybe upgrade my transponder while they are working under the panel. Thanks again, Paul
  23. I am about to have a GDL 88 and Flightstream 210 installed in my Garmin 530W equipped M20J. The avionics shop wants an extra $1000.00 to install the "diversity" antenna system (top and bottom antennas). Does anyone have just the one antenna installed and is it worth the extra money to have both.
  24. Done! Thanks to everyone for the valuable information supplied in these forums.
  25. Bob Bramble did my AI about six months ago. Quick turn and fair price. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
