aviatoreb Posted December 31, 2014 Author Report Posted December 31, 2014 I used to have the opinion that the certified road plan was more expensive but worth it because it is safer overall. That is still true overall - look at the statistics of homebuilts vs certified. It is why I don't allow myself a cool lancair. But aren't a lot of the homebuilt accidents during that first flight, and during the fly off 40 hrs. And cooky car engine in airplane mods? So yeah - I get it and I am still on board with the general certified concept. But certified bureaucracy and bureaucracy expense of the in the name of safety has clearly gotten out of hand when it keeps me from installing better seatbelts in my airplane for goodness sake. I have practically begged the amsafe guys to make an STC to install their seatbelts in my airplane. STC is too expensive for them to risk the investment even though they have them in other M20 models. The irony of all in the name of my safety is glaring. Quote
