aaronk25 Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 It's a accident you can't hardly do any damage and exceed the 25k damage limit for incidents. I think it's still 25k. What a shame. Quote
N7186V Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 Looks like someone photoshopped the picture to make it more dramatic. Either that, or the lights and reflections were just right to make the scene appear even worse than it already is. Quote

What a shame. the 25k is for property damaged other then the aircraft, no fatalities and no other property damaged. this will be an incident unless there was structural failure that caused the event not caused by it. Marauder Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 http://www.wfmz.com/news/news-regional-southeasternpa/no-injuries-reported-in-pottstown-airport-plane-accident/28358662 try this Brian That works Brian and also explains why the airplane and car looked like they met... I like the reporter's comment about the nose wheel. Quote
Seth Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 I used to operate out of W00, Freeway airport, in MD. It's a 2400 x 40 runway with trees one end and power lines on the other. I learned to fly my former Mooney M20F there. You have a much smaller room for error, but many Mooney's are based on the field and many come in for service. I've seen TLS, Bravo's, Ovations, and even an Acclaim there. Though based at a 4000 foot field now, I am comfortable brining my Missile in there as long as I depart not with full tanks or full seats - I'm sure I could, but why risk it. There is a orange strip at the halfway point of the runway. If you passed that and haven't touched down, go around. I had a scary touch and go / go around a night at a field in NJ that was 3000 feet long. I'm glad I had 300 HP that night and should have gone around earlier - that was Summer 2012. Landing long or coming in fast means a go around, or a nose gear hitting first means a go around. I'd like to know if this pilot is on our board and know what happened. He walked away, so that's what is important, but it must be hard for him to see his plane messed up. I'm pretty sure it will be repaired because of the value of an Acclaim. Glad no one was injured - that's what is most important. -Seth Quote
John Pleisse Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 During the recent MAPA safety program at Roanoke my instructor had me practicing at Smith Moutain airport was 3000 ft though and it was more than plenty of runway...but that practice made you aware that you still have to fly our planes by the numbers and they will act properly if not then the plane is flying you! Sounds like William W.? Quote
carusoam Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 An official half way line....? Hmmmm? -a- Quote
omega708 Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 I can't believe that car wasn't involved. Does it not look all crinkled in the fender area? Looking closer, it looks like there might be a blanket or floor mat draped across the left rear quarter panel of the car giving the appearance of metal damage... Quote
rockydoc Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 Big question is this an accident or incident...depends on damage???? one is reportable one is not....contact legal at AOPA for determination Absollutely the BEST idea. I have always purchased the premium legal plan from AOPA. Best aviation investment that I ever made. I have used in numerous times to educated myself on questions like this. i.e. Is this an accident or incident? AOPA legal plan pays for you to use a local aviation attorney (whom AOPA is happy to recommend) for up to six hours at no cost. That attorney is most times a GA pilot also. With my recent run in with Homeland Security, I consulted with the Chief Legal counsel of AOPA on numerous occassions. He even went straight to the head of HLS on my behalf. Can't over emphasize the value of spending the extra $100 for the preferred plan. Rocky Quote
Piloto Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 Good observation Omega. It looks like the trunk floor mat. The car must be from the party that was waiting for the pilot. José Quote

I remember watching planes takeoff / land from Freeway on my way back from BWI to the Academy while riding in cars / buses... That's a neat area. Quote
