N9405V Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 Ok, I'm stumped. I'm looking for a digital copy of a service manual that covers a 1970 M20E. I have a new to me 1970 M20E and the step is fixed, but the way it is fixed just doesnt look like it came from the factory that way. Anyone have a manual? Thanks, Wade Quote

1964-M20E Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 Can you post some photos of what you have? Quote
carusoam Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 Hope that helps... I am still rebuilding some of my office skills. Some things take longer than others. Best regards, -a- Quote
carusoam Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 The coolest part of this scan is the inset. It indicates clearly that the DG is the vac source for the step actuator! The second coolest thing is there is no Acad being used in 1966! Best regards, -a- Quote
DS1980 Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 The steps became fixed in 1968. It's possible you had a factory "downgrade." What makes you think it didn't come that way? Is it loose? Quote
N9405V Posted October 2, 2014 Author Report Posted October 2, 2014 I'll grab some pics when I am at the airport in a bit. When I looked at it the way the step was attached to the airframe in the battery compartment just looked mickey mouse. It may be done correctly, it just looked odd. I'd personally like to remove it, one less thing hanging out in the breeze. Quote
FloridaMan Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 Hmmm... I never thought of this, but in the event of an engine failure, your step will deploy as a speed brake. Quote
carusoam Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 Only if the prop stops... Best regards, -a- Quote
N9405V Posted October 2, 2014 Author Report Posted October 2, 2014 Here is the photo of the step install. I guess the washers are what threw me off. Quote
