unicom Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 I am the lucky new owner of a 1980 M20J fitted with a MTV-12-B/ 180-17 three blades prop. The POH only gives engine and RPM settings for a two blades McCauley B2D34C214/ 90DHB-16E. Should I go with these settings and expect the performance to be slightly different or should I apply different RPM ? Should anybody has some experience with this prop I would appreciate to get some figures... Cheers, Philippe Quote
Cruiser Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 I would have thought that any change from the factory equipment would have had an STC and/or 337 that includes additions to the POH for operation. Are there any supplements in you paperwork anywhere? What does the propeller log say? Quote
unicom Posted January 20, 2009 Author Report Posted January 20, 2009 That's what I thought too ! ... and nothing in the mt-propeller operation and installation manual ! Quote
fantom Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Tom Rouch at Top Gun Aviation in California has the same prop on his J, and he's been testing it for some time. Does this look like yours: http://topgunaviation.net/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/.pond/dsc00014.jpg.w560h420.jpg Drop him an email, and you'll get as good data on the best settings, as can be found. Here's the address: menace@topgunaviation.net Good luck and let us know what you find out. Quote
