N601RX Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 Same here. I am ready to pull the trigger now. What exact model number of the plugs I need for my 1977 M20J with IO 360 A3B6 engine? Thanks. You will need to know if your leads have 5/8 or 3/4 ends on them also. 1 Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 When I switched to Tempest fine wire plugs, I subsequently had ZERO misfires at high altitude (FL190-230) whereas my Champions would experience a few misfires every hour. Lean of peak ops were more consistent and my TIT went down probably 20 degrees. I recorded the amount somewhere. Quote
Wistarmo Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 I had Champion fine-wires only a couple of years old and had repeated fouling. I switched to Tempest fine-wires last December, and so far so good. Quote
Rhumbline Posted March 22, 2014 Report Posted March 22, 2014 I wish this thread had started last month. I just replaced all the old plugs with fresh Champions (fine wire on the bottoms) during an annual inspection early this month. Had no idea there are quality issues with Champion. I can eat the cost on the massives if they don't last but the fine wires are tougher to swallow! Quote
