DonMuncy Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 My K model has, over time, upped the manifold pressure at which the gear warning activates. That is, the manual on mine says that when the MP is reduced below 16 in. with the gear still up, the horn activates. Now mine has decided to honk if the MP gets below about 22. On the back side of the panel, on the throttle cable housing, there is a clamp looking affair with 4 screws holding it in place on the housing, and a micro type switch. There is apparently something on the cable itself that activates the switch at the desired throttle setting. However, in order to make it activate at a lower MP, it appears the clamp arrangement would have to be loosened, moved nearer the panel and retightened. Mine is already quite close to the panel. Has anyone done this. Do you have to set it by trial and error, moving it and flying it, till it is right. How sensitive is this, Is 1/32 of an inch of movement going to move the MP activation point by 5 inches, etc.? My hangar elf wants to know.
Piloto Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 Check the throttle cable at the fuel control end to make sure it is not loose. Check also the fuel control linkage. Try to do this before next flight. José

N601RX Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 On my f the bracket itself doesn't move. The screw holes that mount the switch to the bracket are slotted and the switch can be moved back and fourth. The switch arm haas a roller on it that rides on the inner part of the cable.

N201MKTurbo Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 Just fix the end at the fuel servo. Replace with rod end if it has a ball and socket. Run the engine up and see what MP it switches (use a volt meter). Adjust the rod end until it switches at the proper MP. Just make sure it will go from idle to WOT.
