Hank Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 . . . 4 people in a short body C model ( I know, NO one carries 4 people in flight in a short body!). I took three cousins flying, up the Outer Banks to Kitty Hawk and back. Fueled to 34 gallons. Hopped to Dare County, couldn't find the pumps, and supervised the truck filling to 17 per side. Went up VFR along the beach, went back IFR behind a line of storms. Happy heavy landing over the pine trees on 3500' of wet grass. Had a great time, back in time to eat supper. Quote
RocketAviator Posted January 18, 2014 Author Report Posted January 18, 2014 Ok what is the oddest thing you have hauled in your Mooney?Tonight I loaded a Rototiller in my Rocket for a 600 mile trip in the morning!Pain in the tail had to cover everything with protective covers, first. Then right in through the luggage door no problem! Alright not that I'm the competitive type but... Allow me to expand.. 1 Rototiller, 3 computers, a floor steamer, a box of spice, 2very large bags of household decorations, 1 pack & play baby crib, hand tools, work clothes, large box of games, several stacks of blankets, 1 grown Doberman dog... Oh and I almost forgot 1 old short fat man... The last being the oddest of all, no doubt,,,LOL All for a short 2hr 10 min ride for 530 NM ride... Rocket aviator cargo style! Quote

JohnL Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 I flew our prototype AR Smart Rifle to CES 2014 a few weeks ago. Had to fold down the back seat. http://tracking-point.com/labs/ar/ 1 Quote
201er Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 Ok what is the oddest thing you have hauled in your Mooney? I'd probably have to go with Alan Fox. After that, I guess a 150lb lathe. Quote
MHemperly Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 Every year in March for the last 5 years I fly to Imperical, CA and I pick up 60 weed eating carp. Imperical county fish and game water bag up 10 sterile fish per box. I have to remove my back and front passenger seats to fit all 6 boxes in my plane. I then fly the fish to my waterski lake in Newberry Springs, CA. The fish do a good job controlling the grass in the lake. They get so big after eating the grass they start looking like miniature humpback whales. When filing my flight plan I get a kick out of telling lockhead that I have 61 souls aboard. That is so ironic that I ran across this this post. I first learned about new berry springs and all the private lakes and ski lakes out there in October of 2012 when the company I work for started paving Hwy 40 from the desert oasis I rest stop to ludlow. Interesting place. My dad and I work for the same company and him and I stayed in his motor home at the RV park off fort cady rd. Quote

kurtsnyder Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 animalmover, remember when you took me and my upright bass to the bass repair shop? We had to remove the back seat. Believe it or not, we got the large upright bass in there along with the pilot and me as a passenger. It was a tight squeeze, but we all fit. We should have taken a picture!! Quote

bonal Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 Did you catch that upright bass with crank bait or live? Quote
neilpilot Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 I've done many Angel Flights and dog rescues, but in 2006 rescued a Snowy Owl that had wandered too far south into Arkansas. Required a Federal Fish and Wildlife Permit. Quote
jetdriven Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 A big ceramic turtle. It has a story. Quote
animalmover Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 The bass and two people. By the time we got there you would have thought we were Lear drivers! Quote
