Which aspects of your Mooney would you most like to change? Check out this poll with a wide range of topics and feel free to post about others. Vote based on reality rather than purely dreaming based on changes you've chosen to make or can see yourself making in the not too distant future.

What changes do you intentionally withhold on? For example insisting to fly with paper charts instead of flight bag or preferring steam gauges over electronic flight bag, etc. What aspects of the good old fashioned way do you prefer about your Mooney and which do you wish would get with the times?

Sure... but I was kind of comparing our Mooneys to what's hot out there rather than the typical Mooney improvements we see if that makes sense.

I love the plane for what it is, but I'd love to be able to get non-certified equipment.  I see the nice autopilots and avionics that are available for much less $$.

I also added single to 2 doors.  If I had a nickle for every time I realized I forgot something when everyone was seated....

PAINT!

I bought it with pretty much everything I wanted (I tried to follow all the purchasing advice I read). I bought it knowing I didn't like the paint. Mechanically, it's in great shape, but it looks like 1981.

May I please have a modern fuel injected engine that starts as quickly and easily as my carbureted engine, produces more than 180 hp with only minor increase in fuel flow, and may be affordably purchased and installed in my C?

I'm with Hank on this on. Every point absolutely on target.

My C Model is a fine airplane. But after decades of flying injected engines, it is hard to go back to carburetors.

i won't change a thing unless i have to: i will need an engine overhaul soon and the FAA is forcing me to have ADS-B out by 2020.

most items that need an FAA stamp are usually not worth it.

yes, i would like split seats but at 9k, i am not even thinking about it.

I wonder how much money MAC could make by selling things like split seats or new seats to current owners vs. waiting to replace the broken ones.

Like my wife said "Could you put in a toilet like real planes have. I am tire of these creepy bottles and funnels that always spills".

Just take a spare seat and rework it so that there is a 8” to 12” smooth comfortable hole in the middle and a tube running out the bottom of the plane.  The should take care of any necessities that can be handled by the clumsy bottles and funnels.  Devise a removable cushion to cover the hole when not in use and your wife should be happy then.  I’d do frequent inspection of the hose connections though.  I think I’d also put an altitude restriction on its use maybe above 4000 AGL or in a rain cloud.

Now if you want to be able to handle more complicated biological processes then you’d have to get way more creative than this.

Mooneys don't need a toilet, they go fast. :D
Ha! But PLEASE, we don't need a poll on your 'youthful' needs .... Which will change with age, I assure you. Toilet, air conditioning, pressurization, another 500 pounds of useful load, Jet A fuel.....the wish list is both endless and silly. ;)

I wouldn't mind having both the steel cage and the ballistic parachute. Airbag seat belts too. I too would like the second door and also a second baggage door, so we could put bags in low like a Piper and high like a Mooney.

Ultimately, I wish my Mooney was powered by an electric motor and not a piston engine at all. If we have to use gasoline engines forever and ever amen, lets get a FADEC type system with electronic ignition and automotive type starting. Let the computer do the engine management, although I would like to retain pilot control over performance, like economy vs. power.

Glass with SVT as well as FLIR would be super awesome and that tech is here now. I also would like an Experimental Factory Built category. Another mod that I think would be cool would be to replace the landing gear components with titanium and carbon fiber to gain back lost useful load and ultimately make the plane faster.

Anyhow, I could go on and on. It's all a pipe dream.

Excellent suggestion. But how would you handle the privacy and odors, not to mention cleaning yourself (we are christian). Would you volunteer for the in-flight test? Be the first where no Mooney pilot has gone before.
