  1. By popular request, I might taxi it over this morning.
  2. Lynn is impressed with DMax. Says he's learned a lot. He's in the market for a personal Mooney. Feel free to chip in.
  3. Dmax said he bought it used off Ebay for $1000. Uses it for gear ups repairs - he does several every year.
  4. First day of MooneyMax is in the can! Thanks to Don & Jan Maxwell for great Texas hospitality. We learned a lot, some of it might even be true.
  5. I don't use a battery minder but from previous threads I understand that there are differences so as you're doing you should confirm match before choosing. I suspect someone here will comment with what you need for your G-35.
  6. Peter, do you think that is a factor for potential buyers? What do you estimate the difference is cost was vs. Garmin?
  7. It's the CHTs that are higher. EGTs are very close together. FWIW, On my M20E with IO360 the starboard cyls run ~30 F hotter than the port side.
  8. Mooney has 6 spaces 247-252. (MAPA is 210.) http://spirit.eaa.org/appscode/expocad/mainaircraftdisplay.html
  9. Yes, but it's been quite a few years. We moved from VT to PA in 1957 but we get to NE every summer, mostly ME, NH, MA where we have family.
  10. Great Pete. I've sent Gary an email and linked this thread. Welcome to MooneySpace! (I was born in Barre, quite a few winters ago.)
  11. Zubin, you're an anonymous newbie here, how about sending me a pm with your name and location and I'll pass it on to Gary. Bob
  12. Why would you think Mooney has any say over parking at AirVenture? Are you a member of EAA? It's their party. You must be an EAA member to camp. https://www.eaa.org/en/airventure/plan-your-eaa-airventure-trip/eaa-camping-information/airplane-camping Aircraft Camping Flying in to Oshkosh and pitching a tent under the wing of your airplane is perhaps the ultimate way to experience AirVenture. You must be an EAA member to camp in an aircraft camping area. No pre-registration is necessary and airplane campsites are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis (three-day minimum). Aircraft camping areas on the EAA AirVenture grounds are segmented into two categories: General aircraft camping area (commonly known as the “North 40”) Showplane camping (Vintage, Homebuilt, Ultralight, Rotorcraft and Seaplane categories) Shower facilities, free public Wi-Fi, on-site transportation, and access to food and supplies are available. Cost: $27 per day
  13. Zubin, a friend of mine has a 1996 M20J MSE 1700 TT, 650 SMOH (in 2011) and is looking to move up to an Ovation. Nice plane, flown regularly, here in NC. I don't think he has listed it anywhere yet.
  14. Mike, maybe so. I negotiated but did not shop other shops. I wanted to be somewhere where I could drop in and inspect, interfere. I was there about every week. I hope they made money and stay in business, I go back to them for Garmin updates, IFR certifications, and anything else I need. That was only part of the labor for my new panel. It included the scope of work I listed. The Aspen is flush mounted which is probably extra compared to some installs. Total work involved 227 man hours. Design and build new panel, Aspen, 750, GMA 340, GTX 327, GDL 88, JPI EDM 930. Twin Lakes Avionics had the plane 10 weeks and had one man pretty much on it full time. OTOH, I've had zero glitches, zero call backs after 3-1/2 years.
  15. I paid 60 hours install for a single box Aspen. It involved removing old Narco HSI, old ADF indicator, moving the altimeter & vacuum AI, install the Aspen ACU inside aft fuselage and the Aspen RSM on top of aft fuselage and interconnecting Aspen to existing STEC50, K155 and new GTN750.
  16. I'm thinking that the ink on that poster is still damp.
  17. Nice work, Conrad! How many hours of dual do you have now?
  18. Fine wire Tempests were the first change I made, within less than 15 hours, after buying this M20E. It eliminated the fouled plug issue. I've put 250 hours on since w/o even thinking about the plugs except at annual. I probably put well over 1000 hours on a set of Champion fine wires in my first '66E in the '70s & 80s. I believe.
  19. Sort of. The Sox moved from Winter Haven to Fort Myers in 1993.
  20. My panel, new in 2012, includes an avionics master and a separate switch for the just the Aspen. I believe that was done in accordance/compliance with the Aspen installation instructions. I'm glad engine starts are done with the avionics off. In contrast, the JPI EDM 930 comes alive with the master switch. It is primary for several instruments so it is necessary to see engine gauges. About 1/4 of the time the JPI RAD (Remote Alarm Display) goes blank during engine start. When that happens I just cycle the EDM's CB.
  21. Yeah, well, my M20E, your M20G, and Becca's M20J, are not terribly inconvenienced to stay below FL 180.
  22. All this talk of about cost and resale value! Do you guys/gals live in a beige house and drive white cars to optimize resale appeal? If you're main objective is to minimize cost you need to find another hobby, flying ain't for you. OTOH, if the priorities are safety, speed, sex appeal, personal satisfaction, pride, comfort, bragging rights or similar noble motives then as Admiral Farragut (perhaps) put it "Damn the Torpedoes, Full speed ahead."
  23. Where are you based? Brandon NeSmith is a great Mooney instructor, works out of KHKY and KMRN.
  24. That's "Bob" neighbor. New to you 231?
  25. I have 2 tillers. The Mantis would not be a problem, the Simplicity rear tine would be.
