  1. I am going to be teaching a course on infrastructure development (ports, airports and roads) and economic development.
  2. I will be in Tampa for about 14 days.
  3. Well at the end I decided to change one of my 430 WAAS, the audio panel and my transponder for a GTN 750... cost 15k... after trade ins. I flew with a friend of mine in his A36 and I liked the GTN 750, I thought it was really cool to have everything in one panel. The only thing that did not convince me was that I would now have to rely on one box instead of three... but I guess and hope Garmin does a good work in terms of quality control.
  4. Hi there, I am planning on teaching a course at Florida University in Tampa this February. Of course I am thinking of flying my Mooney from Guatemala to Key West and then to Tampa (although I could do Guatemala City Tampa non stop with a ferry tank, it would be an 8 hrs flight and I am not that brave...). The question I have is how is the weather in February and what airport should I use? Tampa Executive, Knight? What would you guys suggest I should do?
  5. I also would vote for the vertical compass. Reliable and easy to intrepret.
  6. I installed a JPI 830. I really love it.
  7. I try to fly once a week. Family and work don't always allow this to become a reality.
  8. So I will do...
  9. I have only three cameras installed outside and one insider. I have not lost any... until now...
  10. What app do you use?
  11. After reading all the posts, I finally decided to get return my Mini ipad 32 GB wifi and get a wifi and G4 unit, mainly because of the GPS. But I have a question, I would like to connect my iPad to my Aspen through the Connect Panel to my Jeppview AP. But i was told that for the time being only the Foreflight app would work with the Aspen... somebody knows if that will stay like that for a while????
  12. Just another one enjoy...
  13. When I was living in the DC area I always filed IFR, easier because of the flight restrictions around the DC area.
  14. Dave Thank you very much for sharing the blog... really interesting.
  15. Congratulations! I am sure you will ensure your Mooney
  16. Seth, thank you! Happy thanks giving...
  17. i use a sponge and simple green. Once every six month I have it waxed and polished.
  18. Well I don't like that I can't transfer my flightplans from my Jeppview app on my IPAD to my Garmin 430s and or 795.
  19. I have been posted here for about a year now and we love it. I work for the World Bank. The country is beautiful, people are nice (among the nicest I have met in my professional life (this is my 5th country in the last 10 years). Is it dangerous? Yes it is. Crime is high and violent drug related crimes are common. To give you an example we don't go out at night after 10 PM... I was recommended to have a bodyguard for me and my family. I turned it down and nothing has happened... The main issue is not to be too flashy. I have travelled across the country by car (my wife hates to fly :=( ). Not to bad. I have been to Tikal, AMAZING (I also visted the pyramids in Egypt, Machu Pichu, Stone ege, etc and this is at the same level of wow effect). And of course I have flown in the country, and I have found a great GA community. To summarize: it is dangerous, but worth while. If you ever feel like visiting let me know. I would be happy to assist you in organizing a visit and of course to invit you to a beer. Abrazo Oscar
  20. I try to fly 7K and 8k, or 7.5 and 8.5 depending if IFR or VFR
  21. Craig, it seems you were able to eliminate the Spam... nice! Thank you!
  22. I am currently based in Guatemala and the authorities here are rather friendly to GA. It helps that the Administrator of the local FAA is the former President of the local Flying Club (equivalent to the local AOPA) and a great guy. The only annoying thing compared to the US is that you have to file each time you fly (regardless if IFR or VFR). But otherwise great.
  23. My plan was to fly to Belize and spend the week there... Now somebody at HQ (Washington DC) decided that it was a brilliant idea to hold a "Leadership forum" in DC tomorrow till Wednesday and then another one from next Monday to Friday... so instead of sitting in N9341V I will be spending quality time on American Airlines and at the Miami Airport... Bummer....
  24. I flew with a friend who has a 750 and a 650 installed in his Bonanza. I really liked it so much that I decided to go for it... I mean for the 750 (the 650 in addition to ... too much...) So my bird is again undergoing some work between now and the holidays... I will post some pictures once I am done... However, I have a question, does the 430W speak to the 750 and the 795, ie can you crossfill the flightplans? Oscar
