  1. I was thinking of flying to KPRB on Saturday also.
  2. I take off from Big Bear (L35) 6,750 in the summer all the time. DA is over 9,000ft. At gross wt 2450 still manage 400 fpm.
  3. I replace mine in 2011 and it's still working.
  4. Sounds like you have a problem. I don't have a problem slowing down or stopping my Mooney.
  5. I think the Mooney you are looking at is a scam. Everyone that talked to that guy got different answers about the plane.
  6. I think that's normal.
  7. I fly my Mooney about 100 hours a year and change my oil and filter every 25 hours and use Aeroshell 15W-50. I don't do an oil analysis but do cut the filter open and check it every time.
  8. Aerospace Logic has some nice gauges that fit the 2.25 holes. Check them out.
  9. I bought my plane from them in 2011. I had a positive experience with dealing with them. Since the plane is not in Oklahoma they probably didn't see the airplane before posting the add. Anyway, might be able to get the plane for less than the asking price.
  10. At least 9 in Apple Valley KAPV.
  11. Trying to find a good C-182 for under 65k is tough. There are a few good early C-210s under 65k. I had a 62 C-210 before buying my Mooney. 210 was faster, roomier, and cost more to maintain and fly.
  12. Go into North Las Vegas. Rent a car. Last time I took a taxi it cost $40.00 to go from McCarran to Henderson. I got a rental car for $30.00.
  13. I use 2300/20 in the 500fpm descent. After I level off I go to 2300/15. That will usually get me slowed down to 120mph. Then I can put the gear down. On an instrument approach I make sure I have the gear down before the FAF and that way It makes it a lot easier to maintain my 103mph (90kts) approach. I don't normally use flaps until I have the runway in sight or make a no flap landing. That way if I have to do a missed approach I have one less thing to do while setting the plane up for the missed approach.
  14. I use Aeroshell 15w-50 and change my oil and filter every 25 hours. I don't think it matters as much what kind of aircraft oil you use, as much as, flying the airplane often and change the oil often, as long as it's an oil approved by the engine manufacture.
  15. You might want to try the 37BY plugs. They are extended tip plugs. I switched to them from massive plugs when I had plug fouling problems. They are a lot cheaper than the fine wires and stopped my fouling problems.
  16. I'm planning on flying in on Saturday the 9th.
  17. My B model Mooney has a small trim tab riveted on the rudder. The ball is centered when flying in cruise below 150mph indicated but I need a little right rudder when the indicated airspeed gets above 155mph.
  18. Brian is doing the avionics at Boshart. He is very good. There installed prices are similar to other shops. They did a lot of work on my Mooney and happy to say everything they did worked great.
  19. Stec30 is about the cheapest certified autopilot. Boshart Aviation in Batavia NY would be my choice to install. Autopilots are very expensive to add on. Sometimes it's cheaper to sell your plane and just buy another plane that already has an autopilot. I keep thinking about putting one in my plane. The $18,000.00 price tag is the only reason I haven't put one in my plane.
  20. Had a similar problem. Used a quart in 2 hours and had a lot of oil coming out the breather tube. Pulled lower plugs, found # 3 cyl plug oily. Did a leak down test. All cylinders including #3 were mid to high 70s. Found #3 cyl had a broken oil ring. Was not that expensive to fix. Pulled the cylinder, had it honed and new rings. Problem solved.
  21. Ipad air for me. Like the larger size for cross country flights. Fits on my lap.
  22. I went to the 37BY plugs and it cured fouling problems.
  23. Should have no problem landing with 2000 or more feet of runway.
  24. I'm still waiting for the 440 to come out.
