  1. don't forget the prop governor too
  2. I'm getting ready for the entertainment to follow.....
  3. I was wondering how you would get them both to fit.
  4. The reason your backup instrument is powered by a vacuum source is to mitigate the failure mode associated with a complete loss of electrical power. During the certification process the OEM had to create a functional hazard assessment (FHA). This FHA was one of the artifacts created to show compliance with 23.1309. Without an STC for your aircraft, you will need to show the FAA why the installation of this device will not invalidate that assessment. Not saying you can't install this, but I'm pretty sure you will need to provide an independent power source and have a DER sign off an analysis based on AC 23.1309. that shows the loss of attitude is extremely improbable. If it were my airplane. I would leave the vacuum based instrument.
  5. If you run a tank dry, you'd be surprised how easy it is to reach.
  6. When I needed those fittings the only place I could find them was from Brittain. I think they are a couple of dollars a piece and they stock them.
  7. You're fortune that you had a company willing to work with you a good FSDO. So many parts of the FAA are just risk averse. Noted Erik with a "K".
  8. Eric, do you hold the STC or does MT?
  9. very nice.
  10. do you still have this actuator? will it replace my dukes actuator?
  11. Back when we only had AM radio to listen to, the ball was put on the end of the antenna to minimize static discharge which was heard in the reviewer as a pop.
  12. Looks like your running a little hot. That oil temperature and pressure doesn't make you a little nervous?
  13. Number three. Copilots side rear.
  14. This by far is your best option and Scott's correct, you don't need a 337. Its an owner produced part. Just a log book entry from your A&P. Reference 14CFR21.303(b)(2)
  15. Those pictures remind me of my engine when I purchased my airplane. Those lifters and galled cam comes from inactivity. I've seen flight school's, who send their engines in for an overhaul because they reached TBO, (that get flown everyday) which looked brand new inside. Best thing for our engines is to fly them
  16. They are only helpful reducing drag on a swept wing; they add drag on a straight wing.

  18. Did you check the alternator belt to see if its loose?
  19. At that temp you should see a pressure drop. I'm guessing your pressure gauge is not reading correctly. When I was in your situation, not trusting my oil temp gauge, I pulled out the temp transducer (its right there in the oil filter adapter). Got myself an electric burner with a small pot full of water. I put the transducer in the water and started to chart the temp of the water vs what I was seeing on the gauge inside the cockpit. I used a candy thermometer to measure the water temp.
  20. The link for service bulletins has been broken for at least a week.
  21. It works much better on my iPad but it's almost unusable in my laptop using internet explorer. No problems using chrome on my laptop. Im using version 11 IE and windows 7 update- I had set mooneyspace to be viewed in the compatibility mode for IE. Removed that setting and now all is well.
  22. When your oil temperature went up (230), did you see your oil pressure go down?
  23. Without putting an O-scope on the system, I would guess you lost a diode in your alternator. You have three diodes in your alternator. When you increase the load on the alternator (when you turn on the landing light) your getting higher ripple because the time when one of the diodes is supposed to be conducting, its not and your sourcing from the battery. If you have a good battery, under a lite load, you should hardly see anything on the amp meter. Problem is no shop will have an O-scope to know for sure.
  24. I would agree with Clarence, otherwise you are pulling in unfiltered air into your vacuum system.
