  1. Sounds like a great deal for someone....
  2. They record everything. If you want your ADSB compliance report for your last flight, just send your N number to this email address. In a while they will send you back your compliance report. 9-AWA-AFS-300-ADSB-AvionicsCheck@faa.gov You'll be shocked at the data they gather. I'm sure they will send us a bill for flight time when they get those user fees implemented......
  3. Just wondering why didn't you take advantage of the transponder offer when you got the 540? then you'd be all set for 2020.
  4. George, I kinda agree with Byron.
  5. I only looked at a couple of pictures but I agree with N1395W.
  6. This explains it better than I can http://www.gama.aero/files/documents/general_aviation_united_against_user_fees_pdf_48fcd6d637.pdf
  7. You don't? So how do you think this new nonprofit corporation will fund itself? Do a little research on Rep Shuster. He has personal ties to the airline industry's top lobbyists. This is just another run at user fees.
  8. Simpson......Welcome aboard !!!! Looking at your profile picture: was the tail on your airplane installed backwards??
  9. Andrew, when you do that, does it mess up the AHRS in the Stratus so you can not use the attitude reference? and that would also mess up the synthetic vision function? I thought it had to be mounted on a flat surface.
  10. just wondering, where do you guys mount your stratus? I have no room on the visor. I have been putting it on the floor between the seats.
  11. I had the exact same problem. The electrical connection between the shelf and fuselage degrades over time.
  12. Jose, the traffic on 1090 is rebroadcast from the ground station on 978. So you don't have to have a dual frequency ADSB-in. The traffic on 978 is not rebroadcast on 1090 though. So transmitting on 1090 ES and listening on 978 will work just fine.
  13. I have the PCU 5000 installed as well and I would recommend it.
  14. preliminary report http://www.ntsb.gov/_layouts/ntsb.aviation/brief.aspx?ev_id=20150508X11640&key=1&queryId=e42caef3-c155-4356-a43c-1049d72bea8f&pgno=4&pgsize=50
  15. Byron, that's not really on condition. GE has a concept called time limited dispatch. Pratt tries but doesn't do it well. You can release with known failures and they mathematically predict when the next failure would be based on flight history. That way you can schedule the maintenance when you are at the maintenance facility.
  16. On condition is too expensive for the big airlines. They try to predict the failures and schedule the maintenance before the failure. Doesn't always work but that's their mode of operation.

  18. Amelia, do you have a 3/16 Allen wrench? You don't need to talk to the avionic's guy, the hanger fairies should take car of it......
  19. nice job! Next year you can put the 440 right underneath the big screen!
  20. Please explain to me how this examiner knows that your ram mount isn't permanently mounted to your airplane and wasn't part of a panel upgrade which was documented on a 337 with an upgraded weight and balance? I'm just venting. There is never a cut and dry answer in aviation. Put the iPad away and fly the check ride without it.
  21. Parker, I know this is going to hard for you to believe but there are lots of MSC's that just suck. You're fortunate. Your mechanic, who is a very good one, just happens to be an MSC. Don't confuse the two. If you find a good mechanic, stick with them; whether they are an MSC or not.
  22. I had a problem similar to what you describe and it ended up being a bad ground from the tray to the airframe. Removing the avionics tray revealed that both the tray and the airframe were painted. Cleaning up the bonds. cured the problem. Take a volt meter and see if there is a voltage drop between the negative lead of the battery and the airframe while someone tries to crank it.
  23. no problems, works great.
  24. It does but ATC has to work at figuring out who you are. Now your N number will pop up right on their display.
