  1. Yes it is a big deal to remove, the tubing is heavy vinyl and should not need to be replaced....
  2. I would lean towards a new set of rotors , these are overlooked a lot , when they wear they do not wear evenly , and they get a glaze over years of use , that is not conducive to good friction.....If you have a good solid pedal(s) I don't think that it is a fluid or slide issue.....although fresh fluid is a great Idea from preventative maintenance standpppoint....p
  3. If that doesn't work , I have a used 64 you can have for 750 , or a 62 that's got a bad receiver with a good display for 200.....
  4. Actually the exhaust hangers for automotive are made from used tires , I cant speak for the Mooney part , but that may be how they are made.....
  5. Sale pending , thanks Ross
  6. Brittain bellows removed from salvage aircraft 150 for the 4 and I will throw in the vinyl tubing that came out also , You may get a few good ones out of these , if not they will serve as good cores .....
  7. Cliffy I have a great tool made by Lisle that removes the broken end of the spark plug in the head on the engine...Takes about ten minutes a plug......Lisle is amazing for that type of stuff , also Help motormite makes a kit for the earlier tritons that has a sleeve that threads into the stripped out hole stays there and accepts the new style plug , and has a short boot to make everything fit under the coil........
  8. Peter I have nothing to prove , you are certainly capable of calling the dealers to verify , I have people lined up to have me work on their vehicles , In fact I seem to remember installing an evaporator core in YOUR Jeep , I also remember it had a broken mode door arm , that the dealer required replacing a 500 dollar evaporator case that I found available in China for 8 dollars to save you money , That is why I have a 5 star yelp rating , I certainly would not lie to spar with you , I have experience on my side ...And the Jeep paperwork you already have!!!!!
  9. I have all of the connectors and the mount for the gyro , you can have everything for 200.00 that will be 6 connectors , and a mount with the new style isolators....
  10. I would have to check , but I might be legal with the Dealers Registrations I have , as far as transfer is concerned , It doesn't matter where the transaction takes place....Also as far as stuff hidden in the airplane you can visually see anywhere in the airplane with mirrors and a screw gun in less than 30 minutes..... He says it is a VFR flight plan to leave Mexico , and also that it is a single set of tanks to get to Texas , he says all the scary stuff you hear about is near the border in certain towns..... It has an AD prop....It seems to be a 20 to 25 K plane....
  11. I spoke to the owner at length , The plane is 15 K , it is currently inspected and flying , He has lost his medical , he is very knowledgeable about Mooneys and especially the B model , If he is a scammer , he is really really good , He owns a Hotel in Puerto Vallarta and has offered to put me and my wife up for free if we come down to look at the plane...... It is tempting...
  12. Pete I find it amusing that you have NO PRACTICAL KNOWLEGE of automotive at all , NONE ... ATF quiets lifters , end of discussion ....water in the intake charge will clean the piston tops , solvents in the combustion chamber will free stuck rings and clean ring lands..... I used to put rislone in Acura engines at the dealership under manufacturers service bulletin for you guessed it noisey lifters, I used to put GM top engine cleaner in intakes under manufacturers warranty for rough Idle , BMW currently puts friction additives in transmission fluid for slippage...All additives .... All very effective......
  13. The nicest B was the one I built , I sold it to Kurt Snyder he flew it 400 hours and now is a professional pilot.....The only real drawback to the B was the fact that a lot of STCs were C and up , The rudder travel can be changed with a 50 dollar bellcrank in the tail , the 125 lbs of Gross is rarely an issue , and as far as resale value , you pay less for a B so you sell a B for less.....Most Lycoming 360s are good for 2500 hours or better , cams can fail , but it is extremely rare....maybe 1 in 50 engines get the spalled cam....Props run on condition , unless it is a hartzell with the AD , that plane came with a MaCauley so if it is the original prop , no AD ....Logs and prebuy are important , Mooney specific prebuy recommended for corrosion issues....
  14. Herman , The install costs will be about 40 hours labor , also if you don't have a GNS430 or a KX165 or SL30 you will need to buy a KN72 nav converter ....also plan on spending about 400 to 600 for a bench check.....best to talk to the installing tech for more input...
  15. So according to Pete since additives have no effect you should ignore the Lycoming service bulletin for putting in the additive on the H motors also...
  16. Good explanation Byron , correct and on point , which is why a solvent or detergent based additive will usually work on these...
  17. Yes it will work with anything but Narco....Pretty standard stuff
  18. Jim STP wont quiet the lifters on startup , I have been an Auto Mechanic for 35 years , you may want to try about 6 to 8 ounces of ATF in the crankcase at oil change , I have been doing this for years on older cars , and it works about 90% of the time....You should consult with Peter first ......He is the expert...
  19. The 950 doesn't use a tray , It bolts directly to the dash like a Gyro , You can gain about 3/8 of an inch by installing it on the front of the panel as opposed to flush mounting it ,
  20. Yes the expert has spoken..
  21. Anthony , I disagree , if you have ever handled STP, once it gets on something it does not get off , if you put a drop of it on a desk , and touched it with your finger , it will stretch like honey or taffy , The surface tension of it is truly amazing....In testing they have put it in oil and drained the oil , and driven cars 50 miles or better with the oil removed.....the only drawback I could see is if it is not ashless dispersant.....
  22. I have had good luck with compressing the calipers in and pushing everything back up through the reservoir...pumping them out and then compressing them again , generally after three or four cycles the brakes are rock solid....all the air gets pushed back through the system and exits through the reservoir...
  23. Basically STP is a thickening agent , that increases surface tension of automotive oil....If it is of an ashless dispersant formula , I don't think it could hurt , But again not approved....
  24. Brian , since I volunteered you for this exercise in futility , I will be more than happy to assist , I think the clinic should focus on Mooney specific items , I think we should rig and set preload on someones gear especially a J-Bar , Gear stack inspection , lube points on rod ends and trim universals , proper jacking , visual inspection of Brittain servos , SB 208 compliance , and common corrosion issues associated with older short bodies....I think we should do at least two oil changes , two jack ups and gear swings , one weight and balance , .....we will have to have any one who volunteers his plane to be penciled in at least two weeks in advance , tell me what tools to bring and I'm there..... I may even be able to get an Avionics guy to do Pitot static tests.......
