The Icarus is programmable for input , IE it will work with any heading system , the GDC is not , If you are buying new it is not an Issue....If you buy a used Icarus it will work with ANYTHING , The GDC may not depending on your heading system.... I don't know if the GDC can be sent back and reprogrammed....as far as features the Icarus is light years ahead of the GDC ,
  14. Because the 4 cyl Lycoming feeds equal length intake runners , tuned injectors have no value to a 4 cyl Lycoming , I would bet the cooler running in the previous post could be attributed to the baffles and cowl closure.....
  15. Actually Lycoming makes a roller cam now....might be worth the addl cost at upgrade...
  16. The peregrine STC required an airspeed switch , (kt74) I think Garmin addressed that in the latest software upgrade to the GNS and GTN navigators...As far as replacing Cavity tubes , a bad cavity will economically kill any old transponder.....
  17. Flow balancing usually involves removing material from inside the ports.....I would not do this on my engine , because it will probably increase the likelihood of cracks in the ports....(over time)

The STEC GPSS will only work with an STEC autopilot...The Icarus , and GDC will work fine...The Icarus can do an unbelievable amount of warnings and annunciations but it requires a much more involved installation , also if you buy preowned plan on spending a few hundred to replace the screen on the Icarus as they are a common failure....
  19. The last two Mooneys I had both leaked , I stripped the first one , and I had about 100 hours in not counting the reseal.... I bugged out and decided that I would lose it if it leaked again , and bought a set of bladders , The common concensus seems to be that not keeping the tanks full , and bad pucks cause the sealant to leak.... The tanks are sealed with B2 (polysulfite)... On the pre J Mooneys the wings are assembled before any sealant is applied , I wouldn't even consider a reseal on an early model.....On the later Models the sealant is applied between the ribs/spars and the skin , and I think a reseal could be a lot more successful on the later models..... The bladders are thick vinyl cloth type of material....I installed two sets of Bladders , it takes about thirty hours of labor to install....the beauty is if it ever leaks you can service a bladder in about two to three hours....I heard that Myron (Ohllson) is retiring and don't know if anyone is buying the business or the STC PMA for the install....He is the only company that sells them....I know Aero-Tec manufactures the actual bladders for O&N Probably LASAR will eventually end up with the STC , if that happens you can bet the price will go up..... I have never heard of a leak in one of these if installed correctly....
