  1. Great link Fantom
  2. Rough crowd..... Perhaps he should sell you a 1000 dollar transponder for 500.00 because it has a dirty knob...... I could clean that up and Ebay it for 950 in a heartbeat.....
  3. Seat belts can be sent to Amsafe to be rewebbed....
  4. Pete you are so Dramatic.....Just like when you abused Ed Kollin , guess what I saw at the Continental booth????? Continental was releasing the results of the camguard tests.........The KSN770 got certified Friday two days before the show........I don't think they had adequate time to prepare , That being said , they have priced their unit 4000 less than the others......They also have the only other adsb out transponder other than Garmin or Trig , yes I know its a trig rebranded...........You are always quick to trash everything out there ........Would love to see what you would have said 60 years ago when Mooney started making aircraft .........
  5. YAY the bendix 770 and the avidyne are both certified.....
  6. I actually spent about 35 minutes speaking about the new diesel coming out with the Continental rep , as this is a converted car engine that I used to work on years ago , He was very receptive to suggestions about maintence and actually took the time to listen.......I was very Impressed....
  7. Don't adjust the flaps to correct for ailerons , Have it done correctly with the travel boards....If it is indeed out of rig , You will be glad you did it right , Also as Anthony stated Fuel and payload will affect aileron position in flight..... Your aileron trim is that Big yoke thingy in the cockpit!!!!
  8. I would shim the horn for play , but to answer the Question , Don't know a MSC in that area....I had a prebuy done at Hampton Roads by a shop that was pretty Mooney savvy..... Lear Stevens...
  9. That looks like an aileron gap seal.......It will be easier to replace it , than to remove the Aileron to straighten it .....probably about 50.00 from LASAR..
  10. The best part on these is if the wind catches your door , It doesn't slam open and stress the hinge ....Good product.....I have to get one for my Bo...
  11. The Fisk arrival is a bit stressful , It is my third time out....The first time I did the Caravan.....Then won a charity auction and won left seat In a DC3 , Yes my only two hours of tailwheel time were in a 25000 pound monster.... Only at Osh.......I don't think I will ever (or ever be able to afford to) top my first trip out!!!!! The comradery and feeling of being a part of something that big are overwhelming....I hope you had a great time.......It was good seeing you out there ......And Mike post a pic of the Mooney coin I gave you....
  12. Chris , the Beech actually has 4 point harnesses , One good thing Beech and Mooney share is a lot of STCs on our airframe.....On both my Mooneys I installed three points which were Amsafe three point harnesses , that used the original seat mounts , and a basic clamp and spacer that hook up to the cage .....Aircraft Spruce sells the clamp/spacer kits for about 30 to 40 dollars a pair.......Me and My IA decided a long time ago , that if it saves my life , I could deal with the feds If I ever got in an accident......It is well known that they have not been enforcing to the letter of the law as far as safety upgrades are concerned ..... If you don't have the three points , I think I have one set left....I bought about 8 of them and sold them all (except 1 set) .... I was saving it knowing this would not be my last Mooney....
  13. To be fair , these guys are going to have to learn the customers , and the market.....The deep pockets may lead to improved products and better things to come....Its not happening overnight.....The fact that its happening at all is pretty amazing.....
  14. The problem is you can do everything right , and still come up short.....The cage is not really more effective than a standard monocoque , I have seen many planes where the passengers died from the impact , and the passenger compartment survived intact , The biggest cause of death from otherwise survivable accidents is head trauma from the head hitting the dash ...If you fly without a three point , you are nuts.....They are cheap and easy to install on the Mooneys , and will save your life.....I lost a friend who cartwheeled a Baron on landing......He died from head trauma ...with shoulder harnesses he would have walked away......Every plane I have owned in the last 10 years has had them , or I installed them.....As stated earlier , FLY THE PLANE..... Steeper approaches to a point on the runway past the numbers when able will increase survivability.......and when you practice best glide pull the mixture that will be your true descent rate......A lot steeper than flight Idle....
  15. Last trip was from OSH to DYL in a RAM Baron, 9000 feet , above the clouds.......Filed , but severe clear the whole way......Right seat Kicked ass 210 KTS over the landscape......life was good on Tuesday....
  16. A give away at that price......someone got a great deal....!!!!
  17. From the look of the pic , gear up and flaps down....You can see the flap position of the flaps up against the fairing below the door , it is sitting level so gear probably up..... Appears to be in proper config for go around/forced landing....
  18. The Mission is the same for both planes.....If you already have the cowl closure , than the speed difference will be negligible , The real difference will be in the passenger leg room , and a more modern plane.......Most people with 231s are not happy with the performance and fuel burn below 10,000 feet , the logical upgrade would be to a Bravo....What a wonderful plane.....
  19. This sucks......My airport is in a rural area , I always try to take off in the direction that has fields off the end.... I am always a little nervous climbing out in urban areas .....Looks like she did everything right , and still got screwed.....How lucky to be greeted with a dozen or more people with extinguishers.....
  20. Again the guys at Trig said that getting a TSO for a waas gps is next to impossible.... It took avidyne 5 years at least , and King over 7 years........ And it doesn't matter if its experimental , still need a tso for this...
  21. No , I did a little due diligence on the owner , (previous) and decided it was probably not even viable for cores.....
  22. They are not producing in China , They are producing in Kerrville , the only difference being deeper pockets , and Cirrus dominating the piston market.....They should throw a parachute on it , seems to be a big thing these days....
  23. Number one , Cheap pilots do not buy new planes......Mike you are not who they are targeting , the building of aluminum planes at that price level is also futile , you can get a lot more plane made from plastic , with more safety features , for the same or less.....If Mooney plans to be viable , they will have to build another type..... Focusing on passenger comfort , and payload.......Would love to see it happen...... The J will never be made , because the cost associated with an airplane is mostly in the labor to build the airframe......This is why Plastic planes excel in the marketplace....... The difference between a J and an Acclaim would be less 80 to 100 K no one would even think of buying one...
  24. Probably not going to get certified... Talked to the guys at trig , and the adsb out MUST have WAAS position from a TSOd GPS source , the only ones I know of are Garmin , Avidyne , and King.....
  25. I currently have a letter of authorization to sit for the exam , but have had no time to study for it, I know I wont use it for income , so it is not a high priority for me....the LOA does not expire , so Im not in a big rush to get it done.....
