  1. I see that it says that already... Silly me. No changes. And the David McGee no-touch method works reliably well for the io550 also... Best regards, -a-
  2. I'll add that for those that don't recognize the 550 as a Continental. The big difference is the extra plumbing that comes with the Ovation installation. Best regards, -a-
  3. Fltplan.com to plan and file... using Duats. Texts routing that has been filed to my cell phone. It would be nice to upload text to my iPad/ WingX and KLN90B... Best regards, -a-
  4. Garmin also stops supporting old products differently... The black and white portable 196 went on for at least a decade while the color 296 and 396 both got shelved after the 496 arrived. And my 196 still works like day 1, just gets the backseat to my ipad1... Best regards, -a-
  5. Site appears, but hitting the search button results in "Access Denied" -a-
  6. JGG, The Continental IO550 has additional plumbing that allows fuel to circulate from the engine driven fuel pump back to the tank selector valve. There are return lines back to each tank as well. Hot procedure is essentially... Throttle full open Mixture out Low boost pump on 15 sec., then off. Throttle idle Mixture in Start Warm procedure is slightly different... Throttle 1/2 inch open. Mixture rich Low boost pump "to clear fuel vapors", then off Start These procedures have been abbreviated slightly. Excess fuel/vapor is sent back to the tank. Best regards, -a-
  7. The USA has some unadvertised benefits that we become aware of by leaving it once in a while. Thanks for the reminder José! Best regards, -a-
  8. Rocketman, Would an electrically heated prop add any value to your fast plane/powerful engine/no chemicals stance? I asked Hartzell while searching for a new prop... Best regards, -a-
  9. Flying in the flight levels takes on additional responsibility. Maintaining the hardware is important but maintaining oxygen levels, staying out of ice and thunderstorms becomes more important as well... These tools are all available, and so is the training. None of it is low cost.... Accept the ability to share ideas here! Best regards, -a-
  10. Ray, Are there any more "accurate" version of levers like a vernier adds to the accuracy of a simple push pull knob? Sliding a lever five clicks would be nice... Best regards, -a-
  11. Steth, Thanks. I have recently become versed in Continental IO550 (G) and (N) variations and modifications including TN. The MidWest Mooney guys have done a nice job of redeploying the io550 technology on Mooneys. I was asking to see if I could put a full feathering prop on the O1. Doesn't seem to be possible... Or not available on the top prop version... Just seems to be a good idea when the noise maker up front stops making noise. O1 is limited to 280hp by 2500 rpm. (G) version... O3 is limited to 310hp by 2700 rpm. (N) version... Nicer power output for shorter take off. Acclaim TN is powered by an IO550(G) with twin turbos... Not available to Ovations What would be nice... M20J with the TN engine with a full feathering TopProp turning 2700 rpm! Just dreaming out loud... Best regards, -a-
  12. How many hours were you quoted for the 830 install? I am considering a jpi700 trade in with a dozen TCs in place already... The 830 is over $3k, install is 10 15 hrs for all options. -rpm - oat - tach - ff - fuel level 930 hardware is about twice the 830. The 930 is worth the additional bucks if you will use it as primary instrumentation. Best regards, -a-
  13. Hydrogen hydroxide as well smiley face! And a can of Prist (windshield cleaner not fuel additive?) -a-
  14. Hopefully the kids are out of the house before the final sale has to occur! Best regards, -a-
  15. Seth, What engine (version) do you have in the Missile? Do you have the full feathering prop as well? Best regards, -a-
  16. It's ok to start looking. That way you get the important decision made... Is a mooney right for me? After that the fun gate has been opened... Byron is always welcome to rent my plane after annual... I prefer the professionals take those hours. Next year we may have a JPI 830 for more complete data collection. Then we can discover timing variables for an IO550... Best regards, -a-
  17. There is an outback Mooney flyer who has detailed a folding rear seat modification for his particular old Mooney. Best regards, -a-
  18. Vref drove a similar discussion in 2010... I used to have a great memory.... Hope this may have helped. How much does the annual bulb replacement cost? Best regards, -a-
  19. Scott, I think one of our European members has detailed a similar Sandel situation. My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I believe the discussion was around the price of used sandal units was relatively low and the availability had increased on the market. I'll try searching for Sandell see f I can find it... Best regards, -a-
  20. Friends don't let friends fly slowly??? Do they? Best regards, -a-
  21. I used airtex materials in the interior of my 65C. They were a vast improvement over the original materials. This is an endorsement of the company, I'm not familiar with the J details that you are persueing... Best regards, -a-
  22. N87 Trenton Robinsville AirMods. Flight Training, rental, maintenance, aircraft for sale. Availability of Mooneys to rent or training depends on qualification. They typically train in Pipers. I don't want to over promise the availability rental Mooneys. You will have to contact them. They have in the past... Last time I was there I dropped my plane off for an annual... Take a visit, it is a genuinely nice place with genuinely nice people, and spectacular aircraft. Best regards, -a-
  23. There was one for sale from AAA a few months? ago. Don't know if it sold. Might search or call about it... There is not a high demand for the older devices... Best regards, -a-
  24. Missiles and Rockets are a nice way to add max power to mid bodied Mooneys. Midwest Mooney 310hp upgrades with Top Prop 3 bladers from Hartzell are nice additions to long bodies. Continental and Hartzell Turbo normalizers can be added to the short bodies. M20turbos and ??? Most of these are more expensive than you can imagine. But if you have been flying for a few years, you have gotten used to that already. Did I get them all? Did I miss any? Best regards, -a-
