  1. Master solenoids have a tendency to increase resistance with age. As do starter solenoids. They may be cleanable or easily replaced, I believe... Now, how to measure their resistance could be key... Jose' probably could add valuable experience to this challenge. Miles, welcome to MooneySpace... -a-
  2. Make sure air is out of the system? Clean the steal balls, change the O rings. Then readjust the valve for return rate when your done... Changing to electric sounds a lot more expensive and does the same job as the manual system... Best regards, -a-
  3. Check how old the oil lines are, they leak after 45 years... If you have oil in the lower belly panels, you'll know why. Best regards, -a-
  4. Depends on the year as well? The TC is the modern source. Some PC systems had an independent source. 1965 and older did not have turn coordinators... Turn and bank indicators? Best regards, -a-
  5. RJ, I like your idea... I will try to make it "her" idea over the next couple months... -a-
  6. I've done some work in the Dakotas in January. I was told most ranch owners live somewhere else this time of year. I thought Minneapolis was cold. People would start their cars at lunch time so it would start again at 5:00pm. I'm guessing there are a lot of oil jobs bringing people up to Dakotas and finding temperatures in the -20F range often, with strong winds. Deadly environment compared to Houston... Best regards, -a-
  7. Riq, Where are you? Best regards, -a-
  8. If the return policy is still in place, order first, then ask questions... Your current head set can go to the back seat. My DCs went to the back seat so fast they almost caused an injury on the resident back there! Best regards, -a-
  9. DC, Nice engineering data/details? I really like the visual cues for parts left in place. Distractions can really ruin your day. Best regards, -a-
  10. I can't imagine testing a sound file using your computer system and saying it would be the same as a Halo system... I like my Halo. It works well. It is true that you may forget they are in. You will laugh at yourself the first time you forget to take them out. You won't be able to miss you tail number during an IFR flight. If you do, it's not a hearing problem... Attention challenges / distraction issues may be improved as well... Best regards, -a-
  11. The pre-Js are getting valuable upgrades as people decide to hold them longer. GTNs and Aspens are adding value incredibly compared to adding additional navcoms or an ADF or DME. I am interested in what an IPad installation in the panel would look like. Best regards, -a-
  12. For Xmas, I'd like electricity and one of Phillip's devices... Best regards, -a-
  13. Many variables... O2 and oxygen aided by moisture... Oil running off surfaces aided by heat and gravity... Brett, I think the concern for the 100w heater is the local temperature getting over 400 degrees breaking down the oil would be serious if it gets that hot. I don't think it does, but I would want to know, before leaving it on. I have a Reiff on my IO550, haven't used it in three years. No electricity near my bird. I'm going to try again in the new year. Best regards, -a-
  14. Merry Christmas all! Have a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year. Thanks for starting up my favorite thread, Oscar. Europe gets a five or six hour head start on the celebration, at least from the East Coast/USA point of view. Best regards, -a-
  15. That was Jim Baccus? Gilligan's millionaire? -a-
  16. Byron, are you still out island hopping? Let me know if you need a FedEx package of something shipped somewhere before the holiday really happens! Best regards, -a-
  17. According to the paper... Prop separation after take-off on a ferry flight, a month after prop strike/prop replacement. Ferry flights like this are an increased risk, and require specific thought/training for what to do In the event... I would be uncomfortable with taking that ferry flight until the engine was demonstrated to be in proper condition. It would be difficult to push the nose down in a timely manner without fully expecting it or preparing for it. Other people that are better trained, with more recent experience, probably don't have this problem. I'm not at that level. In the event of a ground strike, the engine gets pulled and sent out. Call that an expensive day. Hope it doesn't happen twice. Best regards, -a-
  18. Brett, How hot do the local spots near the heaters get? Localized heating of the oil being the concern. Best regards, -a-
  19. Amigone supplied a photo awhile back.. Use the usual caution with this idea, if you have manual gear... Best regards, -a-
  20. Spectacular, is FF in the photo anywhere? Nothing feels better than getting 270kts for the price of 175! Mooney flying has a lot in common with sailing, specially if you have a turbo. Best regards, -a-
  21. There is a thread here somewhere on this exact topic including dimension and materials, I think? Possibly even a list of Mooney owner purchased organizers... -a-
  22. This is the weirdest question that never goes away. (Who propagates this stuff anyway?) Mooneys have short legs, not Mooney pilots. (park next to a Cirrus for a good demonstration) Trying one on doesn't cost anything. (except you run the danger of picking up a strong addiction to efficient speed (mph or kias). (m/hr-gal....) Of course, I'm 6.00’, my Ovation was delivered with pedal extenders, and I raise the seat for optimized view level... Take that back to Beech club... ( I don't think they care though). I think the statement "I don't fit" is easier to go with than "efficient speed doesn't mean that much to me"... If height was a REAL issue, you would see threads here that we're titled "I'm 6’ X" tall and this is what I go through to best fit in my Mooney." (but you can't) Enjoy the search function, there has to be a few threads here regarding pilot size over the past few years... Find a Mooney owner near you and ask if you can sit in his plane. Best regards, -a-
  23. The furniture is nice, but the shop floor is incredible! Best regards, -a-
  24. Orange orange everywhere... Thanks Saltaire for the professional's guideline. Best regards, -a-
