  1. Very nice! Great to use the Mooney for what it's made for.
  2. What you're seeing is often proportional to the regularity that someone flies. You fly a lot. Your mind operates at the speed of Mooney. You don't let the rust build. If pilots flew as much as you do, they'd probably be polished like you. I flew with a guy who was pretty rusty last year. We flew 3 times in 3 days (probably 15 hours of flying?). He started with the sloppiness you describe (and you're not too critical!) and he ended with a confident demeanor and able to fly his airplane well. I wish pilots would get out and fly more often... It's incredibly awkward when you have to say someone doesn't get their flight review signoff - but it may save their life by going up with you a couple more times and regaining some of the skills they once had.
  3. I like Condor. Reasonably priced and seem to last a long time.
  4. Congrats to your son...but flying a jet is no simple act. There's a lot of systems and stuff happens 2-3 times faster depending on the phase of flight.
  5. beautiful airplane. I think you might have knots and mph units switched though. A TAS of 190knots would be quite a bit higher than any other TN M20F
  6. That's sounds like the Dallas North Tollroad. They were supposed to take out the toll stations when the road was paid for, but all we get is rate increases and more toll roads. Meanwhile, fuel taxes don't get spent on the roads. ...also sounds like the "Private" toll roads that are popping up all over Texas...
  7. Tim, I would definitely get as much of the work as you can done at Maxwell's. If not, G-Force is a good option at CAK. You can likely get a ferry permit to GGG though.
  8. Tim, I have flown the M20K with the 2-blade prop and of course have over 200 hours in N252BH. The 3 blade is much preferred in my opinion. I have also flown Don Muncy's M20K with the 3-blade MT and it is impressive (and looks awesome!). I had previously flown behind his 2-blade factory prop. Big improvement. MT 3-blade all the way.
  9. You did the right thing by not shutting down the engine. thats one more abnormal thing to an already abnormal situation that can cause an attention diversion which can lead to much worse.
  10. Tim, Did you try retracting the gear after stowing the emergency extension latch? The gear will not retract unless that is stowed. It sounds like that may not have helped anyway if something got jammed...
  11. I owned an M20K that I flew around Florida and would do the turbo thing again.
  12. What's the story on this one? The recent gear-up landing means the engine was torn down and inspected. That might eliminate some of your risk there. http://www.controller.com/listings/aircraft/for-sale/1392247/1964-mooney-m20c That said, I'd probably go for this plane. Much newer and 400 hours on a recent overhaul. Air-mods is a good shop. Have them do an annual as part of the deal. http://www.controller.com/listings/aircraft/for-sale/1402545/1975-mooney-m20c-ranger
  13. Considering I rarely purchase anything at the retail stores anymore, this will probably be $5-10 for this year. Good deal.
  14. It's still registered to them...
  15. I had to add cupholders to my 1991 Ford Ranger. A lot cheaper on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/American-Technology-CH-00100-BLK-1-MUGGER-Folding/dp/B000Q86IQQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1451494485&sr=8-3&keywords=cup+holders
  16. This looks like a great unit. Glad you are having a good experience.
  17. My first Mooney was Big Red. My second one never obtained a name.
  18. Sad news. Prayers for his family.
  19. Entire Set for $600 Shipped FedEx Ground to the USA. Will include overhaul of the Aerox mask (they say to send it to them 3 years after manufacture). All work great. I've used sanitizing wipes. Includes the Scott fittings that work on Mooneys with factory oxygen systems.
  20. Yep. The brakes and the gear doors are the expensive part. Also you'll need new flight control counterweights. your engine will become a TSIO-360-MB/SB Best to handle this at a Mooney Service Center. Some of the brake parts were available from Aircraft Spruce for cheaper than Mooney list price.
  21. Go get a CFI and do some instrument approaches once a week. nothing wrong with being better than just instrument current. Solves the moisture problem, the engine rust problem, and the rusty IFR pilot problem.
  22. When it comes time to add your Commercial or ATP (not sure what you presently hold), check these guys out - a little closer to ATL: http://www.ryanseaplanes.com
