  1. Peter, I had the same issue and it got to where the strobe quit completely after several months of intermittent flashing. My mechanic installed a new power supply at annual and all is good now.
  2. http://www.newpig.com/pig/US/pig-form-a-funnel-flexible-draining-tool-tls703 I have one and it works great one the filter change as well as draining overnight for the quick drain.
  3. Slight thread drift but how easy is it to see ice on white wings? I've got the TLS scheme and ice is easy to see on the wing roots due to the dark green paint.
  4. I like the retro paint job!
  5. I wonder why it was so short lived? Clogged injector seems to lean toward that. On ground the engine compartment didn't have a burnt smell. I only pulled the top cowl but all looked good from the top.
  6. Yes CHT is what I meant...
  7. I did pull the cowl and all looks ok. No birds or other riff raff.
  8. I flew from Arkansas to Colorado today for the opening day of snowboard season. Over 4 hours of smooth flight with a big headwind. About 10 miles out I felt a small, steady vibration and a faint smokey smell. A short while later my number 4 egt spiked from 340 to 490 in a very short time frame and was flashing. I enriched the mixture and popped the cowl flaps and after about 90 seconds the condition subsided and the remaining 5 or so minutes all looked, felt and smelled normal. The long taxi in was fine and I did a short run up with no issues. My two thoughts are clogged injector or stuck valve. I called my mechanic and he's leaning toward the clogged injector but the smokey smell has me puzzled. Would either instance cause this? Your thoughts??
  9. Try being a Razorback fan
  10. I used "Mothers" to polish my spinner with good results.
  11. IIRC a MS member is based at Boulder. Hope all is well. Condolences to the family and friends of the pilot involved, very sad.
  12. Don- I'm here with the family and just down the road from seahaven a couple miles. It wouldn't be a hassle to me at all to give you a lift if someone else doesn't pitch in first. If so just give me a pickup time and I'll meet you at Seahaven. We ate breakfast here in the condo this morning so I don't have much info on the local breakfast joints.
  13. Don- I'm not going to attend that presentation but I would be happy to give you a lift if need be.
  14. I bought a SIRS. A couple years ago and have had no issues.
  15. The family and I made it to KECP today. Fly safe everybody!
  16. Well done, sounds like quite an upgrade!
  17. When my boost pump rocker broke Maxwell replaced it. You may try giving him or LASAR a call.
  18. I ran my first real flight today with the new fine wires. 1.4 hours LOP and the difference is amazing. That said my massives had a lot of hours on them, but the fine wires were very smooth and I was able to get further LOP while staying smooth.
  19. Welcome, lots of good info here!
  20. I've used John on an annual when I could not get it down to Maxwell due to weather and he is a very honest guy and good mechanic. In fact they found a few small items overlooked on previous MSC annuals. That said I would have an MSC such as Don Maxwell look it over. At the very least, a different mechanic since John has been taking care of it regularly and I believe a new set of eyes are always good. I wouldn't recommend any other of the local guys for a Mooney prebuy
  21. Tom, Congrats on the new grandson!
  22. Yikes, that's crazy! I just mapped it and the drive is only 21 miles from the airport on the U.S. side to my Canadian destination (Ogdensburg NY- Brockville Ontario) By car it will be.
  23. Thanks for the tips Ward. Family will be picking us up so it looks like landing on the U.S. side is what I'll do and take the short commute from there.
