  1. I use the following site references and it runs pretty close with my JPI. To the tab- 25 gallons- per POH To the "shelf" on the outboard edge of fuel tank-20 gallons To the corner, where the bottom of tank meets the side of the tank- 10 gallons
  2. Any of your local bike shops should have Tri-Flow.
  3. My dad used one for ground transportation when he flew around the US a few years ago and loved it. Im sure he would get rid of it for a fair price so shoot me a PM if you want his contact info. Link below is his blog on the trip... http://myflyingadventure.blogspot.com/
  4. Rocketman- did you replace it with another brand? If so, what brand is working good for you? Anybody have a pirep on the Switchbox timer?
  5. Has anybody here on MS given this company a shot yet? The price looks to be about half of what the two profiled on AOPA look to be although they come out of Europe and are only GSM network compatible which is fine by me. http://www.gsm-auto.com/
  6. Looks easy enough, thanks for the lead.
  7. I've got a small area ,about 2" x 3", on my rear side glass that got heavily scratched today after landing and unloading. Are there any scratch removal products that any of you MS members have used with good results?
  8. I had the same problem a couple years ago due to my landing light wiring touching the exhaust pipe, melting and causing the short. Maxwell re-routed the wire like the newer Mooneys have up the side of the lower cowl i and haven't had the problem since. Once the bottom cowl is off its pretty obvious if the wire is melting.
  9. Would Tri-Flow work? I use it to keep the O rings in my gas caps lubed between annuals as well as various other areas on th e Mooney.
  10. I agree with Byron. I had the same thing happen to me mid flight about 3/4 of the way between selections. It turned out to be a small pebble lodged in between the lever and the selector plate. Hopefully the fix will be as simple as this.
  11. Don- On the "maps" page enter your route. To the left of the route window, close to the middle of the tool bar on top of the screen, you will see a small box with 3 sets of dashed lines. Click this and a menu will drop down. Select " procedure" at the top right corner and from there pick what entry you want. It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Let us know if this works for you.
  12. Mine triggers around 14. It's an easy adjustment for your A&P
  13. I'm changing my screen name to JimR
  14. Been there, done that multiple times!!
  15. Jim R "We had a minivan for a few years right after our twins were born. It was great. Leather. Sun roof. Automatic doors. The works. I used to love driving it right up to the point where I would catch a glimpse of a reflection of myself in a store window or the like and be slapped back into reality. " Hilarious!
  16. I lucked out on my J. Quick story... I didn't know much about Mooney's and originally had a 77 or 78 C Ranger with new paint, engine and good avionics picked out and being flown to a pre buy. The ferry pilot, for some reason, decided to only put enough fuel in it to taxi to my hanger door and not much more. As luck had it, that day was IFR and she ran out of gas on a 2 mile final after being sent up into S Missouri for an approach. Plane totaled, she walked away and I had time to do a little more research and ended up with a J model for only 5k more. I'm pushing close to 1000 hours in it and believe it was a good bit of luck/fate smiling on me that day. I'm sure I would have been happy with the C but I've crammed me and 3 buddies in the J for ski, MTB and climbing trips to the Rockies and that would have been impossible in the C. Great plane!
  17. That's what I was wondering too. 8k for new plastic only is a rip IMO.
  18. I had my wife and 2 year old with me on a long, 6 hour day of flying a month or so ago. We were all tired, night had fallen and we were racing a long line of thunderstorms back to Rogers. The closer we got, the bumpier it got and more and more lightning strikes were dotting the horizon. NEXRAD was showing a band of yellow over my airport with a 2 minute or so delay and a bunch of nasty red right behind it and the stormscope was lit up like a Christmas tree. As bad as we wanted to get home I made the decision to land about 10 miles short at another runway that was in the clear. Lucky we did as hail, strong winds and hard rain pelted my home airport at that time according to family members. 6 hours in the left seat along with night conditions were enough for me to make me feel good about my decision. It was a bit frustrating to fly close to 1000 miles and have to land 10 miles short but when I looked in the back seat and saw my little one sleeping it was a no brainer. Family picked us up and I came back the next day to fly the remaining bit in bluebird skies. Remember guys, most of those little weather boxes we have onboard are DELAYED up to 15 mins or so. I've seen it as high as 20 minutes. Be careful with it...
  19. There's a video on YouTube of a Mooney doing a barrel roll.
  20. Tony, I was raised in St.Joe and lived there until I was 15. My dad had a Cherokee 140 that he kept in the old green north side t hangers and I still make it up there about once a year to visit family and friends. I always enjoy checking out the big heavy's while I'm there and hearing "check gear down, cleared to land".
  21. Another vote for Ideal. Go Cards!
  22. Yes, I used fiberglass cloth and PVC glue on the back of the panels the stabilize the small cracks and filled the front. Once painted, the speed increase was incredible.
  23. I did redo the panels but did not wrap them. They look good as new and may have added a few knots! Haha
  24. Michael, Good meeting you at Maxwell's, good luck with the sell!
