  1. Yes, must snowboard... I've had 4 adults and 2 boards in my J. Backseat guys were on the small side and had the boards in between them. I've used this configuration several times
  2. My son is 4 and has logged around 100 hours, my daughter is 10 mos and has around 20. My boy is finally getting to the age where he enjoys the flight and doesn't just zonk out. Well done Abe!
  3. The bottom cowl isn't that hard to pull with some practice but the first few times you may need another set of hands. On my J there are disconnects for the landing light and cowl flaps. Once those are disconnected it's just taking out the fastners (don't forget the two lower ones I between the cowl flaps). If doing it solo having a stool to rest the cowling on helps and will act as a second set of hands.
  4. This would be a nice thread to keep open. I'll be down in April from NW Arkansas, getting back and forth is always a headache?
  5. Bonal- I have the pro version with synthetic vision just upgraded. You do not need Stratus for it.
  6. John, Mena OH'd my engine back in 11 and offered the same upgrade. I did not go the flow balancing or GAMI route and am still able to run LOP smoothly. They do a great job, I think you will happy with the standard OH if you go that route.
  7. Any idea what happened? Was it on takeoff or landing? RIP.
  8. Here's a picture of the covers... Still for sale.
  9. Yes I do. Funny story(kind of)... I "sold" them to a local J pilot to put them on and pay me next time I see you basis. After about 6 months of never seeing him he gave them back because he's selling the plane apparently. They are in good shape. I used them for a couple years but upgraded to the Aero Comforts last annual. My email is bodiebell@aol.com Money231LE- I apologize for missing your post back in August. Regardless, at that time I thought they were sold.
  10. That's what I was wondering. If somebody could buy a conventional Ovation and add the bench seat and 5th belt. If not, an A36 could always be the next step.
  11. Cody is a good dude! I had him balance my prop on a cold rainy day and to top it off I dropped a camlock into my bottom cowling. He spent an extra 10 mins or so fishing it out for me.
  12. I've read that Ovations can be configured to carry 3 passengers in the rear seat. Do all Ovations come with this ability or just certain year models? Do they come configured from the factory or is it an STC add on? Thanks
  13. My brother in law shot this a few months back... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=K-q3U_pvmrY

  14. Waiting on pins and needles
  15. That's my worst nightmare.
  16. My lowest total ever at 138 hours . About 15 3-4 hour trips, a couple 4-5 hours trips and a bunch of 1-2 hour jaunts to see the in laws and out laws. Not much local flying unless I haven't been up in a week or so and just want to exercise the plane.
  17. I had the same issue a couple times and ACF 50 would clear it up. It happened about once a year for a couple years so I just replaced them at last annual. In a pinch give the ACF a try.
  18. Oklahoma?? I was born and raised just down the road from you in Hammond and still visit frequently now that I live in Arkansas.
  19. I always crack the oil filler cap after flying to help the release of moisture. After 15 minutes of so of post flight duties the steam is dissipating.
  20. I was reading an Aviation Consumer article today about this OWT. Basically they concluded that a full system (cylinder's and sump) left on continuously would not have a condensation issue. They did NOT recommend leaving on 24/7 with just a sump heater.
  21. I went to the hangar today to plug the plane in for a later flight this afternoon. No Bueno, the padlock was frozen and the key would not open it. On top of that the sliding doors are frozen to the ground! It was 14 degrees with light snow. Mother nature isn't supposed to act like this in the south.
  22. That's terrible, I had not heard that Craddock died. RIP!
  23. Haha! No smiling allowed while enduring the very boring task of flying the Mooney! Yes, a few smiles were cracked while shredding the powder...
