  1. It looks like a static port below it. Or is that for the relief tube?
  2. I was wondering what you meant by “wiped”. Physically, emotionally, mentally? Were you making poor decisions or making mistakes? What is your O2 sat when you are walking around the house?
  3. Trust me, you usually know when you get banned from a forum because an admin sends you an email. But yes, I was really worried when Mooney.com was up and Mooneyspace.com wasn’t. Bizarroworld.
  4. I’m tempted by the Series 6 as well. I’ve always been a mechanical watch guy but a few years ago I traveled a LOT for work and got an Apple Watch just for convenience. I was not going to get a new one (I’m a Series 1 user) but with the blood O2......
  5. I am going to second what @carusoamsaid. I’m on the same spousal support program, except last year we both had issues and I got an XR and she got some XS (code for excessive). But the SE is a pretty attractive deal if you dont need the New hotness, 1.1AMU phone. I think I’ll apply this spousal support method to airplanes. If I convince HER to buy a J or K, in two years, she’ll be due for an upgrade to an O! Thanks for the idea Anthony!
  6. It’s not the prettiest plane (the tail fin is shaped WRONG). But it has potential. Even given the engine, the fuel tanks are a bit shy, but I could see the demand for a long range tank option becoming strong enough for an STC or factory option. Then, I think it would be a winner. I like the doors on Diamonds, I think making egress easy for passengers is important. Now if any Mooneys came with a third passenger door...... the Saratoga would have left my short list LONG ago.
  7. To support what @EricJ said.... there was traffic slowing down (evidenced by the footage already available) and an open right lane. Even in Florida, that’s rare so that should have been the drivers first clue. The plane was in a quartered position but not quite at a 45 degree angle to the road. If you have clear road in front of you and can’t see that..... I’m sorry, that should (clearly in my own opinion) require a check ride in a truck. If the truck was “legal” with trailer brakes, it SHOULD stop in a pretty good distance (hence commercial vehicle stopping distance requirements). I’d be interested to know if there was dash cam video from any other vehicles. That footage from Doc is pretty high res and that’s a fairly well travelled road for commercial traffic. All that said, if the plane occupants walked away and we(Mike) aren’t mobilizing the Foundation, I’m very happy. Yes that plane took a hell of a hit and I’d guess gear side loads, spar and sheet metal damage, as well as whatever prompted the emergency landing (piston left the cylinder), I’d be shocked if it isn’t totaled.
  8. O6C is a good airport too, small compared to others in the area but it’s good to see it is surviving and even thriving that close to ORD. Sounds like a perfect use of an Ovation too.
  9. @TGreen, how was your trip? And did you use Atlantic at PWK?
  10. I’m in for a partnership. 1/100th share would be $120k. I’m based at KDPA just west of Chicago so if you would be willing to split the distance, we could keep in in Cleveland to avoid constant repositioning flights. One question though, will my lack of P-51 time hurt us for insurance?
  11. Love it but we need a side view pic of your plane to see the paint scheme! Interested in true performance figures with fuel burn comparisons and where did you do your transition training?
  12. So this update brings the G1000 current with regards to ADSB traffic and weather correct? So this “should” negate the need for an iPad in the cockpit for that, right? But there would still be the normal Bluetooth issues with connecting to the GTX345R, so there may still be issues with loading flight plans? Ugh, I can’t keep up. @Deb has always been able to explain this to me in plain English that I can understand (backwoods high school education here). Is this all still correct?
  13. Yep, gotta say, I’m happy but kind of angry their website didn’t get resolved. That message at the top is cropped/cut off so at first glance it looks like it was penned by Charlie G. Though that may be because I was viewing on a mobile device.
  14. If I need to work through this with a CFI please let me know. I was taught to raise flaps for short field but anything else, minimize configuration changes until off the runway. That all said, I do touch and goes occasionally but I am not particularly fond of them for the reason that it is unrealistic. A go-around is typically not done once a plane has settled to the ground like in the case of a touch and go. In a bounced landing, the plane is still too fast to settle, so you have a few more knots of airspeed to work with. I also don’t like (maybe I need some more long body time) trimming for a hands off landing as mentioned because it makes retrimming for a go-around take even more time while applying power and bringing g the gear up (if that’s on the procedure list, personally, I’d prefer to leave it down if I’m re-entering the pattern). Again, if you feel I have deficiencies in my thoughts or processes, let me know and I’ll get with a CFI. Heck, I’m flying with one tonight.
  15. My ONLY turbine time is in the right seat of a Mustang. On that plane, I’d agree that reconfiguring isn’t (too) bad. Doesn’t mean I would want to do it and really would not appreciate it on a check ride. It would take a really long runway to have a balanced field for takeoff after landing in one, even lightly loaded. I’d have to review the manual for a Mustang but if the wheels are on the ground you don’t reinitiate a takeoff in any of the emergency procedures. Now to perform the same maneuver in an older piston with a trim wheel and non-notched electric flaps, you could end up with a really uncomfortable surprise when you push the throttle all the way forward. Didn’t that happen to a Bravo in AZ not more than a year ago? If I remember that was even a forum member. Sad outcome.
  16. Ok, so maybe I could see doing them in a two crew aircraft easier. Does the 737-X landing SOP stipulate adding large amounts of trim and can the computers handle the reconfiguration changes with a TOGA button? If not using a TOGA, how long does/would it take for a pilot to dial back trim from landing to takeoff? Same with flaps/slats?
  17. Citation Mustang, on a type rating checkride with the new owner and examiner. I don’t know why they didn’t GUMPS. http://www.kathrynsreport.com/2020/02/cessna-510-citation-mustang-n163tc.html?m=1
  18. Because this.... https://youtu.be/vyC-2RDSXD0 As others have said, T&G in a complex aircraft increases odds of missing an item or attempting a takeoff with incorrect configuration (flaps or trim not set). Combine that with rapid full throttle inputs and you can really have a bad day.
  19. Ok, wait. Are you a farmer? I grew up with views like that. And an 1800’ grass strip we kept the Cherokee at. But our tractors were/are green. In fact, Dad’s retirement sale is this coming weekend.
  20. They are fully grown Russians. Though I’m not a tortoise guru, I’ve seen them and they aren’t very big. Maybe 6” wide at the shell and 8-9” OAL. These are mid-body Mooney travel companions here. A long body would be way overkill.
  21. I’m finding out. Will let you know.
  22. Those look cool! I could probably get you a couple more if you feel like flying to KDPA. My next door neighbor is trying to rehome two small tortoises. He asked if I want them but I’m already taking care of a bunch of pets my kids have and my wife’s chickens. No more animals at this house.
  23. I guess I should have added that I’ve been in straight(ish) wing Citations.
