  1. I’m glad you’re committed to engaging with the feedback! Too often I see people drop in on this and other boards, ask a provocative question, and then disappear after stirring up whatever they can stir up. Sorry I was too quick on the read. I asked the blunt question because usually when people talk about renting a high performance complex single out to that many people, they’re either trying to stretch their budget or find some way to make someone else foot the bill for their flying. That rarely works. However, a carefully chosen and vetted partnership could prove to be extremely beneficial and rewarding.
  2. I believe it's been found, via a helpful PM! https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pnpages/01-01348.php https://www.skygeek.com/whelen-h35w28v-lamp.html
  3. Where did you find the part number? There's nothing printed on the removed bulb at all. I know the part number of the A508, but that bulb doesn't fit. I'd like to have a little chat with whoever decided to change my plane's base and lights!
  4. I think OP is long gone, guys...
  5. For those recommending 14V bulbs, the "28" in A508-28 stands for 28V. The difficulty in tracking this bulb down is making me think it's an off-the-shelf part.
  6. I already bought new bases. I already bought Aero-Lites replacements. But I can't create time in my mechanic's schedule to help me change them. So until then I need to find this bulb.
  7. Detailed view of the Mystery Light (click for full resolution).
  8. At some point under prior ownership my wingtip rear facing nav lights were modified. For one thing, the left and right wingtips, in terms of the sockets and hardware involved, do not even match each other. For another, the IPC calls for an A508-28, but the A508-28 bulb I bought to replace the burned-out right wingtip light definitely does not fit. Instead this taller bulb with the filament mounted vertically is in there. No approved LED replacements yet, damn it. Can anyone identify this bulb so I can find a replacement? The burned-out bulb has no identifying markings and I can't figure out what to buy after striking out on the A508. (Hurry up, Whelen! @OSUAV8TER) (Photo: A508-28 from Spruce on the left, Mystery Light on the right, pulled from the socket exactly as installed.)
  9. Wow those are three very different airplanes. Have you defined your mission yet? To have those three planes as your finalists, unless your mission is "own any airplane," the answer would have to be no. It's like saying you've got your next car narrowed down to a used Honda Civic, a Land Rover Defender project, and a brand-new Ferrari, which should I get? The answer: it depends what you're using it for. And sorry to be blunt but are you sure you can afford this? Planning to "rent it to 4-5 local IFR-rated pilots to help me cover its cost of ownership" does not sound like a great plan, in terms of insurance and just the experience of ownership. That's basically an airplane rental business. Are you sure that's what you want? You might find a partnership on a more affordable airplane to be more palatable.
  10. Believe so, haven't had an issue yet. Guess I have to wait for a frequency to change to find out.
  11. Shortly after buying my plane I replaced the aging KX 155 with a GNC 255A. I'm glad I did, especially since it can take GPS input from the GTN 750 and identify the frequencies without an additional subscription. With the GTN 750's COMM, it can basically give you three radios, because the GNC can monitor both of its frequencies simultaneously. I'll often talk to approach on the GTN, monitor guard on the GNC, and toggle ATIS on the GNC's stand-by frequency as needed. Really helps out. And I'd be surprised if that TKM webpage has changed at all since 2017.
  12. I wanna play! This was from a flight in February.
  13. There are several posts in this thread from @OSUAV8TER confirming Whelen has this in development.
  14. Always be careful when a newbie's first posts are trying to sell something. @carusoam comes through with the gentle nudge...
  15. See, that's your problem. The crow feather is supposed to go between the first and second toes on your right foot. In your right hand you're supposed to be holding the crow you got the feather from.
  16. That's a misquote, I didn't ask that. But thanks for the answer!
  17. I am also willing to accept ridiculously high offers for your Ovation 2. I'll even throw in this bridge I own.
  18. I would think she's responsible for using a weak weather damaged tiedown rope, and/or failing to adequately inspect the rope before she tries to use it for a task that, if the rope fails, could be fatal to herself and others.
  19. Don't forget @donkaye who likely knows where to find a few K models up in the Bay Area.
  20. It might be careless and reckless if the plane moves after you start it. Martha got busted because she didn't sufficiently secure the aircraft against unintended movement, not merely because she hand-propped. Easily could have killed somebody, including herself.
  21. Yesterday's night currency flight.....was canceled because in the time it took to drive to the airport, 3000' VFR ceilings turned into MVFR with a developing layer flattened out at pattern altitude. Weather gods giveth, taketh, etc.
  22. I didn't have it removed. I have no idea if it's standard or not. This is how it came from the prior owners.
  23. 1994 MSE, originally had the KAP 150.
