  1. Did you buy the small size? If so, how much larger than that do you think would fit?
  2. I couldn’t sum up the cult of personality around him any better than your recent posts praising every move he makes as somehow being good for society. The well-documented ways he has treated his employees (and wives!) doesn’t sound like much of a “leader” to me.
  3. Where did I say that’s a bad thing? Being successful making money doesn’t make him a saint. Evidence is missing on that last point.
  4. So he’s the pope now? Lol. Weird how his mankind-benefiting decisions always enrich himself, I’m sure that’s just coincidence!
  5. Are you sure you don’t have a leak entering the cabin?
  6. Except mashed isn't on the menu! I have two G5s and would love if it showed this too, don't get wrong, but (1) they don't, and never have, and (2) I'm not sure how easy they'd be to read if they were squeezed in on the already pretty fully utilized display. Especially the AI, there's not any room for much else.
  7. I mean this humorously, but that's kind of like saying, "I bought a ham sandwich and I'm angry it's not a steak." These limits have been pretty well known and there were other options out there if you wanted more features. What made you pick the G5?
  8. My plane has really earned my trust in the almost two years I've owned it, but I still try to start every flight asking "how is this machine going to try to kill me today" so I'm ready to respond.
  9. James, I thought we were pals!
  10. It would help if the crack team in charge of Mooney would sell the type certificates, tooling, and inventory to an outfit that's going to run an honest-to-God parts business already.
  11. You mean I'm not going to get a second GTN 750 for free if I just wire them $1000 for customs first? Damn it...
  12. Skip -- I know this is an old post, but which workaround do you recommend, if any? The dim annunciator light with LEDs on is something I would like to fix but since I'm only in Year 2 of my ownership, the list is still quite long... @PT20J
  13. No, I would not. If I really wanted a non-Garmin backup I'd get a MidContinent SAM. I currently have two G5s but am planning to go full glass in the next five years or so. Is the G5 the only permitted backup when installed with a GFC 500? The G3X and GI-275 can both drive the GFC 500 so I'm surprised to hear you must go with the G5 over the better-featured GI 275.
  14. Always amazes me that people who don't live here, and in some cases have never even set foot in this state, have such strong opinions on where the rest of us should live and take every opportunity to remind us of those opinions.
  15. Since you asked: I would install a 10" G3X Touch instead of three GI-275s, with either a GI-275 or G5 as the backup.
  16. Did I read that correctly? $100 every two years is too much to spend to keep the altimeter in a how-many-thousands-dollar panel?!
  17. Yes. You can calibrate a universal one. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pspages/fuelhawkuniv11.php
  18. I went through this two years ago, also with a 28V M20J (MSE). I spent a fair amount of time tracking down all possible leads and the final determination was: the original Mooney-branded part is no longer made and I could not find any in stock or from salvage. The choice was simple: either buy a 1+ AMU retrofit kit to replace the original V/R with a more readily available part already used in other models, or, send to Maxwell for IRAN for quite a bit less. I chose the latter, no problems since.
  19. I bought a plane that already had LR tanks for this very reason, just in case they didn't come back on the market. Encouraging to see the STC might be available once more.
  20. I was going to go to Troutdale, but then I found out Coast (an MSC) is doing this work at MYF and is willing to stand behind it. If I lived in NorCal I'd probably just go to Troutdale but living in SoCal, MYF is a lot more convenient. I'm scheduled for May, I'll let you know how it goes. Until then, PM me if you'd like contact info. @Michael Williams
  21. What kind of sensor inputs are out there?

  23. The stuff about being too old to walk is still there, even though the last guy is 75 and famously needed help to get down a ramp (not everyone who's 75 needs help, but if a 75-year-old happens to need help, that's fine!). Guess that's what "not being political" looks like for some.
  24. Piper Cherokee 140s are asking the same price these days. I'll take the C every day of the week.
