  1. Finally got around to opening the box and putting these on the plane. They look exactly as described if not better. Thanks @Schllc!
  2. OT (sorry): The Aerospace Logic is a very versatile instrument and the rental Pipers I used to fly made frequent use of them, but I don't think I've ever seen one configured for RPM and MAP. What's it like to use?
  3. If Rube Goldberg designed glass panels, they might look like this!
  4. I pulled my comments, I was working late and grouchy last night. Thanks for the feedback!
  5. That might have been something to ask before rushing to declare us wrong, but I'll get you a photo of my POH next time I'm in the plane.
  6. This POH doesn't apply to my plane. Should I still tell him he's wrong?
  7. Reconsidered after the feedback -- I was working late and got too grouchy last night, and I meant it to be more encouraging than it came across. I'll preserve this line for @ilovecornfields though: "the biologically unlikely lovechild of Chuck Yeager and Bob Hoover."
  8. Which trim system do you have?
  9. 1. Have you read your POH? It tells you when to use cowl flaps. Good practical advice in this thread already, but your question suggests to me that you have not read the POH's instructions yet. And why didn't your CFI go over this with you? 2. Is your instructor just along for the ride or is he actually teaching you something about the plane? It's baffling to me that he's just sitting there and letting you struggle to slow it down. Does he have any Mooney time?
  10. I bought those bulbs and also the other A508. Neither fit and the fixture is so borked that it probably needs to be rebuilt. My A&P thinks he can't get it out without busting the lens cover.
  11. The GTN is not that far away, pretty easy to monitor. I plan to get a G3X Touch eventually but it’s not because the GTN is somewhere other than right in front of me. I fly VFR now though. Maybe I’ll want the map in front of me once I start IFR but its placement has not been a problem.
  12. I don't have an Xi, but it's practically the same size. 2x G5 GTN 750 (legacy) GMA 35c (remote) GNC 255A GFC 500 JPI EDM-830 GTX 345
  13. I probably should have noted my comment was meant to be tongue-in-cheek...
  14. Do you have any experience with the legacy GTN 750? (Non-xi).
  15. Corona Air Paint has a Mooney in their photo gallery, also. http://coronaairpaint.com
  16. NTSB again calls on FAA to require carbon monoxide detectors in GA airplanes
  17. Looks like you’re online again, did you check on the above? @Alan Fox
  18. So it's a CFIT crash then?
  19. These comparisons don't really stand up. Fines and tickets come from criminal statutes, traffic laws, municipal codes, regulations. They're enforced by the government, not by random Joes filing class actions against people they don't like or disagree with. It's the FAA's job to enforce the aviation regulations just like it's the police's job to write tickets. Dealing with this guy is the FAA's job. It's possible to influence the FAA in carrying out that job, especially if you have the ear of powerful politicians, but you don't get to suit up and play in that game yourself. There's also a pretty clear difference between parents who owe a legal duty of care to their kids violating that duty and putting them into harm's way with their actions, versus, some random YouTuber who owes you no individual duty acting in a way you disapprove of. The Constitution gives you the right to say almost whatever you want about that in the court of public opinion -- especially if it's a matter of public interest. But that is not a legally addressable wrong in a court of law.
  20. You can also piss into the wind if you want, but there are consequences. Same basic idea here. If you're asking a lawyer whether you can sue someone for X, you're really asking whether you can sue someone for X without getting sanctioned and getting the lawyer in trouble. The answer here is no. "Sue a guy in class action because we all think he's dumb" is not how any of this works. If his plane crashed on your land and flattened your cattle, yes, you might have a claim. But generalized "hurting the cause of GA" or "making us all look bad" or "insurance premiums are going to go up" or "man, what a moron" are not individual causes of action and will get your lawyer disciplined for signing his name to frivolous nonsense. Now send me your lunch money!
  21. Bumping for inventory update!
  22. Yes No
  23. I think he's saying it was installed in April 2013, removed November 2021. November 2013 being the typo.
