  1. street view shows it.
  2. That is probably going to be my first goal. I can get the Cessna down in about 450ft ground roll now, so I'm going to try to get as consistent as possible landing short distances in the mooney.
  3. Also probably going to do at least 50 to 70 takepoff and landings before i feel comfy getting in and out of decent sized airports.
  4. As of right now, my plan is to fly it back with my instructor (james mason) from kenosha. Hopefully it ends up being a fun trip where I can log some retract, HP and ifr time.
  5. Thanks for the help. Thats props what i will do
  6. Does any one know or have an ovation or eagle that they rent out, where I can get a couple hours of flying for insurance for the m20s I am about to aquire? Located in KSNA, and would like to try to find a way to ferry the aircraft back myself. If you have any opinions about this, feel free to comment.
  7. I personally want an acclaim prop or a 4 blade mt. But well see as time goes by.
  8. Im doing a prebuy on this pretty shortly. All the cylinders are above 70 psi and the engines not making any metal. Quite surprising actually.
  9. http://www.pinnacleacademy.com/rates/ Not a lease but a rental located in sd.
  10. Hopefully it is a nice vfr day. Only a fraction of california pilots seem to have ifr cert.
  11. I know for sure camping is available about maybe about a 5 minute flight down to oceano. Id strongly recommend going there as fuel is pretty decent, and oceano is a great little town. Id recommend the rock and roll diner for supper after the flyin.
  12. 2 or 3 i believe. I am one of the.
  13. Is it okay If i go up with a 172. My family is currently in the market for an ovation/ eagle as of now, and the time simply hasn't come to acquire it yet. I'm flying up with my dad, but if you're okay with doing 100 knots instead of 200, i'd be happy to take you along as you offered to once take me up in the bravo. This is no luxury aircraft, but It has been good enough for me.
  14. Whyd you sell that j. Was the nicest j ive seen
  15. I would personally do what @lancecasper and find an 97 to 02 ovation and just upgrade the shit out of it. The O's I found are selling for about 160 to 180, and most O3 start at 300. add another 50-60ish to get it WAAS, SVT, and ADS-B (this number could be wrong, but from what I've heard its insanely expensive to get WAAS, ADS-B, SVT, ETC.) that's a difference of nearly 200 grand. for 200 grand, you can get an ovation/eagle, repaint it, redo the interior, add a g600 txi, gtn750, gtn650, a 345r, and do the 310 STC with the $25K plastic prop, and still have money left over. the only difference is, you'll have a plane with a paint scheme you want, an interior you want, with avionics you want, and can easily switch out when they become old. These are PP thoughts only. I do not own a Mooney, But hopefull within the next couple months I will own an Ovation, and I plan to go down the route I just recommended.
  16. looks like theyre 4 pointers and the mount behind the seat.
  17. ovations and ealges fit the mission profile I nee pretty well actually. I just need a useful load over 1000lbs, which most of the 97 and 98 ovations have. eagles are on a different level where most of them have a 1150 lbs useful load with the 280/310hp stc. Sadly, I really liked this one as it had a g500, with gns 530 and 430 waas. paint was nice. and the condition of the engine, plane, and interior were very nice. and price reasonably 160k. pity that the useful load doesn't work with this aircraft.
  18. All ovations have a 3368 takeoff weight. Its the eagles were you can get the bumb in useful load.
  19. I am currently looking at an 98 ovation that has a useful load of 928 lbs. It has air conditioning so would removing it be an option. my mission is gonna be getting my IFR in it and traveling with my family which all together weight about 630lbs. If i remove the air conditioning I could get an extra 60 lbs of useful load but how much would it cost to remove, and how much could I get for the AC. Thanks Nik
  20. I know its only the masking tape, but that shade of yellow looks stunning with the silver. Reminds me of the carbon cub.
  21. looking through the process, it looks they were on the plane when it still had its original paint, and then removed as you can see in the pictures when they stripped the paint, and then reapplied once the silver metallic paint was dried.
  22. Im doing my IFR with Jay mason too. I would strongly recommend him. He is a very busy guy but if you can get hold of him, there aren't a lot of better instructors in SOCAL.
  23. I'd Strongly consider Oceano (L52). Great little airport located right next to the beach. And there's a terrific Diner about a 3 minute walk from the airport. The rock & Roll diner. No landing fee but a 15 dollar overnight fee. 100LL is on the field. The airstrip is pretty short at 2100ft, but there aren't any obstacles in the way. Flying up from John Wayne (KSNA) in an old and slow 172 takes me about an hour and 35 mins give or take doing 105 knots and its right at the midpoint coming from Socal Or the Bay area.
  24. all of you need to try a J-3. slowest plane ive ever flown, and by far the most fun. i was lucky if i got to 80mph. something nice also about crossing the threshold at 40mph and having a ground roll under 250ft.
  25. you get 190 knots at 6000ft? that doesn't seem right.
