  1. I guess block time is pretty much what im looking for. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Kortopates I sent you a message!
  2. Actually the insurance I was quoted a while back wasn't too terrible for a Mooney when I was having it quoted as a 70 hour private pilot, about 1100 a year, Also I am planning on having my instrument rating done via an accelerated instrument program in July or August. I am more or less looking for a fast efficient cross country aircraft to take up to Lake Tahoe, Vegas and what not with some friends over the next year. Plus I have had a love affair with the Mooney for a while and would love to get to fly one!
  3. Looking to lease a Mooney M20 vintage model in San Diego for a minimum of 100 hours. Looking for a 1 year lease, doesn't have to be exclusive use, wouldn't mind sharing I just want to have the opportunity to have such a capable cross country machine. My qualifications: ASEL VFR only, 130 hours TT. I will be getting my IFR ticket this summer. I would also be willing to do a complex endorsement/checkout with owner and/or I would get a complex endorsement on my own prior to leasing aircraft. Thank you all for your time.
  4. I would love that, ill see if I can get my instructor to sign me off for a solo up there and we can get together soon!
  5. Hey all, I am really seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on a "vintage" Mooney, but I really would love to get a ride in one first, I'm based in San Diego, CA and I would most certainly pay for your fuel and buy lunch!
  6. I really don't intend to do soft field with whatever aircraft i get. Mainly short/regular asphalt fields. I was mainly asking about weather wise, how they handle cold ect.
  7. So i'm a pebble's throw away from my PPL (hoping for a check ride in a few weeks) and i am now starting the fun part of shopping and research. Out of all the aircraft i've looked at, the Mooney really looks like it might be the one for me. Some concerns i have is operating costs, maintenance costs, how easy they are to fly (I currently fly a 172P and a 172N 180hp) and finally does anyone fly them in Alaska and how do they deal with that environment (I'm currently in California but i plan to move back to Alaska). My mission currently is to build time, i'd like to go for my instrument and commercial after i have my private ticket. Also if anyone has a Mooney in San Diego, CA, I'd love to ride along sometime.
