  1. just donated. Could you add me to the list. I need to list a couple things for sale. Thanks Nik @mooniac58
  2. Im just waiting for @Piloto to come here and talk about that pilot relief tube. Regarding the actual question. Too mich fuel is never a problem as long as youre at or under gross weight. But having that back space for big luggage is great. Choose if you want people, luggage, or distance. Pick one of those 3. What other people would do is mostly irrelavent. Its your plane, your mission.
  3. My 2 favorite paint jobs ive seen so far are these 2. Surprisingly which have curly lines but what ever.
  4. what does a job like that set you back? I like that because its not the usual curly lines. Also If 52q ever gets painted, I don't want white as a colour on the plane. Id rather want silver metallic.
  5. I'd say at least 15 tied down on our field. There is the M20s I fly, a M20F, and 2 m20J's right next to my tie down. going around john wayne, there are 4 or 5 other long bodies, a couple of M20ks, but the short bodies don't seem to be around. I think there was also one or 2 acclaims on the field. thats Tied down. maybe another couple hangared.
  6. 1145lbs useful load on a cessna 172? the 180HP cessna I used to fly had a useful load somewhere within 850. you sure it wasn't a 182?
  7. more like a 10hp difference. non of the o and io 360 variants were ever 200 hp. I believe the highest ones were at 192 or 193HP
  8. the ovation burns fuel from 12 to 16 GPH. the bravos and rockets burn around 16 to 21GPH. Ovations have cheaper engines, and the hull values are identical when looked at on controller.
  9. how is a bravo and a rocket cheaper to own than an ovation?
  10. A B2
  11. then I shall take my comment back. apologies
  12. this did not answer the question he was asking in anyway.
  13. you might be better off going somewhere distant. I know chandler avionics in Arizona does good work. they're booking for Feb right now. I believe High desert avionics in Socal is planning for December right now. might be worth it going a decent distance. yes it sucks that you need to fly that far, but both of these guys gave me quotes within a week, I'm using chandler avionics and getting a gtn750, 35c, 345R, and 2 G5's, and they gave me a pretty good price compared to all the other places. You have a traveling machine. might as well kill 2 birds with one stone and take a vacation to Socal, and have the panel updated at the same time.
  14. how does the 22 compare to the eagle? its rare to have an unbiased person here.
  15. Quadcopters and hex copter can easily make it to altitudes that mooneys fly at. I was big into RC before I got into the real thing, and a lot of that time I spend flying FPV quads and hex copters. I knew a ton of people that took them from 5 to 10 thousand feet. range with the radio control is about 10 miles with a normal Spektrum DX series radio controllers and about 25 miles with a range extender. 10 miles range for a remote control that costs about 200 bucks. 25 miles for a 5 or 6 hundred buck remote control. this guy made it to 3300 ft. the second vid the guy made it to 16,000ft. that is not a typo. FL160
  16. Also a pretty significant delta in performance. Shorter takeoff. Smoother operations. A knot or 2 increase in airspeed in the na levels and a couple knots faster at cruise in the flight levels. Better climb. Lighter.
  17. Practically at this point its just a M20J with a great useful load. That speed is pretty fast for most J's too.
  18. its being STCed right now. I believe that they have a bravo being used right now for testing. It's not my money, but if it were me theres no reason to go back to the old mccauly. it's a prop from the 70s being used on a plane thats from the 90s, and has practically every single upgrade on it that can be thought of, except the prop. both the MT and the hartzell will do everything better than the hartzell in every aspect. They're both lighter, quieter, faster cruise, better climb, shorter takeoff, and way smoother. I believe the MT is 74 inches, and the Hartzell is 76. lets not forget that either of these props looks way cooler than the mccauly, but thats just my opinion. From what I heard the MT is like a speed brake on the nose when you pull the power, which if used correctly is another advantage.
  19. At 4000ft runway at 927ft elevation theres really nothing to worry about. it'll feel a bit sluggish compared to what you're used to, but its still a mooney. I'd rotate about 5 knots faster than what you're used to. the rest is pretty identical. expect a lower climb rate.
  20. right now you're at 3519 views. when going on to mooneyspace.com click on the genereal topic, in this case "General mooney talk" and look at the options. the option in this case is "An absolutely horrible day!". look to the right of that title where all the picture of the latest user post is and it'll tell you the number of posts and views. BTW, options for your prop consist of repairing the prop. if you go to MT prop, the weight will drop from 80.6 on the MCcauly to 60.4lbs. if you go hartzell prop, the weight drops from 80.6 to 72.5. also if you went with the hartzell prop, I wouldn't be surprised to see somewhere of a 10 knot increase in cruise speed as the Original Ovation 1 had the same prop and would cruise somewhere around 175 with the 3 blade prop. most people with the Acclaim props see around 185.
  21. In the J-3 i learned to fly in, I also hand started it from behind the prop.
  22. this was a question. not a statement. but I can understand that they only sold 7 in 2017 as the certification came out pretty late in 2017. hopefully they're doing pretty well this year and for the years to come.
  23. I believe @TheTurtle stated in another post that his annual was 800 bucks.
  24. they probably bent upon impact. doesn't need to be running in order for the blades to bend.
  25. you have the proper layout for your instruments, but its still somewhat a shotgun panel with it not being straight. Do what @gsxrpilot offered and either make a panel yourself for 200 bucks, or most shops charge around 500 bucks for panels layouts. This is what you want This is what it would look like without a new panel. this is fine, but it doesn't offer a flow of instruments, and I think the panel above looks a lot cleaner. also make sure to get flush mounts. Its an extra 200 bucks and it makes the panel look way cleaner.
